Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

I've just now managed to crawl out of my house for the first time in 2 days thanks to all the flooding. Luckily our house is fine but many others can't say the same. In more positive news I'm at 13 days to go until our Disney/US trip and only 6 days of work left!
Oh no!! I'm glad your house is okay. That sounds terrifying. Vacation should be a much-needed, wonderful escape!

So.... I have a confession to make.

I've never seen Star Wars :scared: so I've never had any interest in the SW things... which made planning simpler and made me one of the few glad SW fireworks weren't falling on our HS day, so it'd be less crowded... :duck:

BUT now I'm SW-curious and want to see what all the fuss is about... :ssst:

Where do I even begin?!

OH THAT LOOKS AMAZING. Okay, I'll try this whole Star Wars thing before it opens so I'll really appreciate it... :D

I can relate.

- I saw the original SW on the night it came out with my older cousin who drove a state over to our house to see it. I enjoyed the movie but wouldn't have gone if he hadn't wanted to.

- I tried to watch the second one but we went to a late show and while I remember Yoda, I fell asleep.

- I have not seen one since.

- DS2 is a TOTAL Star Wars NERD! Everything and anything about it.

- I've always enjoyed Star Tours but you don't have to know anything.

- DS2 got me to go to SW Weekends bringing along DS1 (who is disabled, knows Star Wars a few characters but no understanding).

- We did the all day pass for Parade (ice cream), FP+ (later years) and Dessert Party with fireworks. LOVED IT ALL!

- We met characters and DS1 traded with Jawas. We bought custom name badges and other stuff.

- Last year we booked Rebel Hangar as well on a non-SWW day. IT WAS AWESOME.

- DS2 and I went to see the latest SW at the theater on opening day. It truly to me felt like SW#2 and the transition from first was easy.

- We did the Launch Bay a few times, met more characters, traded some more, boys wore SW shirts and we LOVE LOVE LOVE the fireworks.

- Fireworks are amazing set to incredible music, you don't have to know anything SW.

- I am now going to watch ALL the movies and catch up before the next movie comes out.

I feel basically clueless but have really come to enjoy all that comes with SW theme.

I am totally with you. I am super bummed to miss the Tree lighting. Why couldn't they just have done the nighttime stuff on Earthday? :(

ETA: I am hoping for some pixie dust and a soft opening for FEA

Take this with a grain of salt...but keep it in the back of your mind. Last week I was talking to a friend of mine who is a Disney World fanatic. She's making a business trip to Orlando in mid-May and has always wanted to go to the Flower & Garden Festival so she decided to contact her good friend who works at DHS to see if she could get her in to Epcot one day while she was there. She said her friend would be able to get her in to Epcot that day and also got her "some sort of special fastpass to ride the new Frozen ride". At first (based on the lack of information we had about a firm opening date) I thought, "There's no way that's happening -- she must have misunderstood something. There's no way that FEA will be open by the time she's there in 3 weeks" (though she's not the type to misunderstand something like that. She's a true and knowledgeable fan of Disney World -- not some misinformed guest going on their first trip who doesn't really understand how everything works.) Based on the announcements this morning...I'm 99% confident that my friend will have the opportunity to ride FEA when she's there in a few weeks...the timing is right for cast previews at that time and I'm guessing her friend is taking her as a guest. But here's the kicker....she's not sure she wants to ride it. She and her teenage daughter have been looking forward to this ride (they're both Frozen fanatics) and want to experience it together for their first ride on it (and her daughter will not be on the business trip with her). I told her I'd still ride it and just not tell my daughter. :D

Again...just something to keep in the back of your head when you're there. If they're doing CM previews...soft openings have to be close behind. I can't remember if there were soft openings mixed in between the cast previews for 7DMT or if the previews were first and soft openings followed.

I'm with you! The way I look at it, if I were in her position, I'd get the opportunity to go first and pay attention to the details of the ride. Then I'd get the opportunity the second time around to pay attention to my DD's reaction to experiencing the ride for the first time! :lovestruc
