Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

I could tell you but I don't want to spoil it?

Well, I went and did a search and "ruined" it for myself! But not really, because now I'm dying to do it and it's unclear to me how I never knew about it. My kids would LOVE that! Sounds like there are slight variations. I doubt I could book it at this point. ROL stalking really got me off my game! I'd also have to move some FPs, although probably easier to move MK FPs than Epcot ones. hmmm....

In all the years that we've been going we never got a chance to see it. :sad1: The last time we were there we knew it was shutting down - but we had major problems at the resort and we missed it. We love AK, DD loves seeing all the animals.

So I'm still depressed about the news. I'm glad that we finally got some concrete answers just not the right ones. But now I have no idea what to do with myself. I'm basically done with the planning -just need to make our meal selections for BOG lunch and breakfast. Last night at midnight I started logging into MDE and then realized it was all in vain. I feel lost!!!!! I feel deflated!!!! I feel cheated!!!! :(:guilty::sad: Sorry to be a downer - I guess I just need to say it out loud.

So on another note...since I had all this free time on my hands I started reading other threads. Found out some interesting tidbits on DVC.
1. There is a DVC discount for Club Villain in DHS ($99 for members v. $129 regular price). I'm sure this is old news to most but I just found it today. Called up DVC and got a refund of $90 back :yay:

2. Changes in membership for those buying resale went into effect on 4/4/16. Inquired about this while I had DVC on the line - the perks they cut out really suck!!! These changes don't affect me but still. The only perks you get with a new resale DVC membership are: TOTWL access, pool hopping and free DVD rentals at the resorts. This means no AP, dining or merchandise discount, no access to special events. Glad we bought in when we did.

I'm really quite bummed. DH and I were saving up to buy a resale in a few years but now it's definitely not worth it to me. I'm losing some pixie dust over here!

So, off topic, but I'm seeing that no outside food will be allowed in Animal Kingdom, and it's a precursor to rolling it out to all parks within six months to a year. Take with a grain of salt, but I don't like this at all. LOL.

Do you have a source? I've heard rumors of no outside food or drinks, but most of those stemmed from an April Fool's article.

We were taking pictures with my new camera and CM came up to us. We talked about the camera and he said "How would you like to test it out from VIP seats?" It was probably the same CM, he is one of them in charge of parade, James. Great guy, spent some time after with him too. He's at MK now. (To keep relevant with the RoL thread he told us lots about it).

Funny was when he asked I was wracking my brain to figure out where the VIP seating was .... it didn't click with me. Then he says we are his first so we can pick our float. We chose the "Goofy Float."

My DS is disabled. He didn't blink at our vests and hats but didn't understand why we were going backstage. We climbed on our float and then all these characters started walking out. His eyes got so big and they all came to see him. He was so excited. He is VERY MUCH in to characters. Then we start moving, totally perplexed. We rolled out the gates and the place was packed. He didn't quite get it. But then we noticed that people were looking at him and starting to smile and wave to him, some were lifting their cameras to take pictures of him. It was like a light switch went off his face lit up and he started waving to everyone. It really was special for our family because of him. It's not often he is a "star" usually on the sidelines watching his siblings. It was obvious people were reacting to him. We were merely his entourage. One of our great WDW memories!

What a great picture.
Yes, it was James! He was wonderful and told us some great stories. He told us just that morning (2013) a bunch of big wigs were having an Avatar planning meeting in Pizzafari.

I'm intrigued and a little nosy - what are you talking about? A tour of some type?

Let me ask my almost eight year old- she says family magic tour. But I would say this- Family Magic Tour is the whole family. Pirate Cruise they go off and do their thing. You get two hours to do what you want. Either way I am sure they will have fun.

Trying to decide between these for 8 yo DD (will be almost 9 by then) for our Dec trip. She is currently a bit sensitive to anything that seems "babyish." Any thoughts on which would be better for a little girl who fancies herself a tween?

Love this story so much!!! My oldest DS is special needs, so I can totally relate to that sentiment of him always being on the sidelines while his brother and sister are the focus.

Side note--this is such a cool picture! I can't figure out how it was taken!!

:yay:

From someone who wants to buy in, but hasn't yet....this stinks! I hadn't heard about any of this.

I definitely think you could still book it and it's TOTALLY worth moving fastpasses for!! We LOVED it! My sons were 13 and 9 at the time!
