Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

I just need a moment to vent... This trip, we've already endured the let down of no Star Wars weekends, Soarin will be closed, our 2 evenings of AK night time plans are squashed, we doubt they'll be Star Wars fireworks going at HS, the new Frozen ride won't be open yet, Hollywood Studios is generally a ghost of it's former self. I'm pretty let down by all of it. Mainly the lack of certainty, then let down with AK and Star Wars Weekend. Disney is not on my good list lately.

Edit: oh we'd also planned to use Wishes FP, but no dice on that. and I almost forgot the $150 Extra Magic event that's now happening on our MK day. grrr.

Well, this is a bummer. I had made ADR at Rainforest Cafe @ AK so we could go back for the nighttime activities. I guess I can make other plans now unless anyone thinks they're stay open late with ROL not being ready.

Oh man! I'm still upset thinking about this. It seems they are making an announcement at the beginning of each month. Maybe we'll get an announcement beginning of May for opening mid-late May... (Optimism)

May 1 will be the announcement that Frozen and Avatar are behind schedule as well.

Slugs in salt move faster than Disney construction.

I have to say even though I am disappointed, I'm relieved to at least know now. I have been waiting to finalize my plans for ROL as AK and that show are/were my priority.
I will be cancelling a few BOG reservations now if anyone is interested - check out May cancel thread. We are headed to Tampa after our WDW tours!

I was hoping for extended hours for our trip on 4/20 but now that seems doubtful. I have to admit though, I am somewhat relieved. I was a bit worried about overdoing it on our first night of the trip. I was thinking that if we were somehow lucky enough to be able to see the show it would have made for a late night for the kids and we are planning on rope drop at MK on 4/21. I was worried about burning them out on our first night and then never recovering. There is always the next trip!

Gotta say we arrive on April 22 for a 16 day visit. I booked everything with the expectation that ROL would be delayed. Just based on past experiences. I am truly sorry to have guessed right on that.

What a bummer!!! I have my AK days planned out as, 6/11, possibly 6/13, and 6/18. I am hopeful, even without ROL opening, they will still offer some of the nighttime experiences.

The current show is on the schedule through the end of April. The DPB posted a blog about a new show starting in "summer." I don't think the start date is known, nor whether the current show will be extended to run until the new one opens. Disney sure is good at this uncertainty thing.

The current fireworks are scheduled through 4/30 currently. There is a new show debuting the summer (originally rumored to start 5/27). It is unknown at this time whether the existing show will continue to run until the new one starts or if there will be a gap. I think they are waiting to see how the construction affects the existing launch point. However, by July I would expect the new show to be up and running.

Good grief, I can't believe it! My sympathies to all of our April and May friends. I am so disappointed for all of you. The only consolation is that at least Disney finally made the announcement and you can move forward with your plans. Since we won't be there until mid July, I was really looking forward to living vicariously through all you folks. After this fiasco, I'm not even counting on July!!
