Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

We use the morning EMH only for the first couple of hours - then head off to a different park. Night EMH are less important, depending on the time of year. During winter hours, parks close pretty early, so having those extra hours are pretty useful.

I don't know more than anyone else here, but I kind of think the MK evening event won't affect current close times by much. It sounds like the point is to try and draw adult crowds to the parks in the late hours, not to be like MVMCP or MNSSHP and close the park by 7. We'll see once more info comes out, but it sounds like the event is stressing 'after hours,' not merely evening time slots. I could be completely wrong, but I think the comparison to CV is a good one--holding the after hours event pretty late and charging a flat rate per person (no discounts for kiddos) suggests to me this is geared towards and adult crowd.

I have a hard time imagining DP and I paying 300 bucks for this event, but I'll keep my eyes peeled for more info(And we are doing CV--I'm okay with paying when there's a premium experience that we really want to try attached to the pricey tickets). I'm definitely interested to know what makes this 3 hours worth 1.5 days worth of MK tickets.

I posted this on Kenny the Pirates FB page, but I'll post here too:

It 's pretty amazing that they could do with little if any announcement, when it has practically taken an act of Congress to get information about River of Light and the other AK night time events that they have been hyping the heck out of!

Since I have been planning this vacation FEA has been pushed back, Wishes fps are no more, they won't release the info/fps/adrs/etc for ROL, and I'm probably missing something. Disney has created an environment which makes it necessary to plan where you're going to be, what time, where you will eat, how long, every minute planned, yet at this point I'm 45 days out and I can't plan because I have no info. I have 8 am adrs, fps for A&E at MK, everything planned for when we arrive to when we leave, and now I hear there may be a "soft opening" and A&E will go back to Epcot, they will probably blow my 8 am adrs out of the water (I have already cancelled Akershus), and now I may have to go back to the drawing board for MK, which I've planned 3 days for. May 4, 5 and 8. I may end up cancelling my AK day, and I guess the only day intact is the HS day (Epcot is not finalized so I can flip flop with AK if the info and such ever gets released). I guess Disney at least can figure out a way to ruin my HS day. Maybe close TSMM, RnR, and ToT. Or do away with the Imagineer dining, which I am excited about.

I really doubt that they would close MK earlier than what has been already published....the ADDITIONAL 3 hours would start AFTER the scheduled closing.

Since we have *nothing* new today on the ROL front..

What do you all think about the new MK after hours event? 3 hours, $149, meet and greets and attractions open. Select nights in April & May.

Disney's hours currently list the 3 nights in April (14, 21, 28) as 11 PM closings, with a 10 PM closing on the 28th. So my guess is 3 hours after that = 1 or 2 AM. :crazy2:

I hope this doesn't mean I won't get to see the kiss goodnight at MK on 4/28! I've never seen it and was really counting on the 10:00 close that night to be my chance - I can't stay up for the other closing times during the week we'll be there.

You have to have at least a little leeway - summer 2016 doesn't necessarily mean May so even if Frozen & Soarin aren't open @ Epcot, you've still got the meet & greet at Mk booked & I'm sure they're not going to cancel the girls there while there's still FP booked

ETA: quite sure they'll stop FP's @ MK before they move so Snow White/Aurora won't be back until Anna/Elsa are in Epcot only - if you have a M&G for specified princesses, you'll get them

This. We decided to do Disney over Europe this May, but Disney seems to be trying very hard to make us regret that choice. If my plans are constantly being altered by Disney, and I can't guarantee I'll have a good trip...why exactly would we spend our vacation time at Disney? I love Disney but there will be a point when it's just too much.

Also, this is supposed to be the trip I convince the boyfriend to be just as obsessed with WDW...they could be losing a lifelong Disney family//likely DVCers here if I can't make it *magical*!!

I sure hope you're right. We are in a similar situation - have FP for A&E May 11 and our 5yo would be destroyed if these were cancelled.

I'm not sure of disney's thinking other than money, money money at the moment. On top of paying for extra hours I've also read there is going to be tiered parking.
$45 (or $15 if you stay on site/AP) to be closer and regular charge for rest.
We're laughing about toilet paper charges but it may come!
I don't mind spending money (certainly costs a lot to come from the UK nearly every year) but I hate feeling cheated and the more I hear at the moment the more I feel disney are trying to screw us. It takes away some of the magic and it takes a lot for me to say that!

I got so nervous when I saw this jumped another 15 pages since last night! Thought I missed something. Although I don't post often, I am having the best time reading along and following all the side topics.

One question I'd like your thoughts on is... If the Soarin' refurb is finished before the Shanghai opening date, would they really let a popular attraction sit empty through the start of the summer season just to give Shanghai the exclusive on the new movie? I really am not hopeful, but I would love to see soft openings by May 27th!!

I'm April so I have no hope, but it's one of my favorites and I can sympathize!

They started the tiered parking already! At least for this past weekend. Not sure if it's a test or temporary but I saw photos of the signs so it looked permanent to me.
