Just got off the phone with CRO a few minutes ago (upgraded to CSR king bed room from POP for our January 6-13 trip). The CM I talked to was very helpful and dropped a lot of hints about the deal. I had been booked room only, but she told me it would be best to upgrade to a package today, because a deal would be coming out very soon that would only be good for packages. We chatted a bit about the buzz about this deal, and she said that CM's currently know nothing, but she would be getting in at 7:00 am tomorrow and wouldn't know the deal until then. She tried to backpedal a bit at that point, saying it could be any day, at 7:00, but I did get the distinct impression that it would be tomorrow.

So, I'll be up at 4:00 tomorrow checking.....

On another note, I am SO EXCITED about CSR! I've never stayed there, but I'm really looking forward to it!

I'm not quite sure how they make big announcements or how the first dissers seem to find out, but someone here always seems to know right away and posts to the Codes and Rates board. This is where I always see things first. Keep following this thread and look for any new threads started in the Codes and Rates forum. I have a Disney visa and I think everytime there has been a deal I actually heard it here first before receiving any email telling me about it! Sometimes I don't get an email until several days after the deal is released. I think on DV deals someone just gets their email much sooner than some of us. Mousesavers also can be very timely in getting the word out.

Hmmm, right now I have a room only. Do I need to make it a package with tickets tonight so it's a package before the deal comes out? Or do I have to have a package already to be able to add the deal? Wouldn't I be able to make it a package when I call in to apply the deal to ressie and make it a package then? Right now I have a AAA rate on my room, if I add tickets will that rate stay on the room, just in case, until I can change to the new deal?

I'm in the same position -- I have a room only reservation. Can't I just cancel that and get a package under the new deal?

I thought that was the advantage of doing room only -- that you could cancel more easily than with a package.

most start their trips either Saturday or Sunday, those arriving on (Friday) 12/25 should have ADR window starting today & those arriving the day after Xmas (Saturday) 12/26 would start making their ADRs tomorrow.

it's my understanding that it's the week between Xmas & New Years which is the craziest crowdwise which is why i indicated the need for extra staffing on ADRs

Yeah, I was counting from the start of the break (12/19) rather than from the holiday itself.

They have also dropped most the restaurants in Downtown Disney and in Epcot. I know we ate atleast two of our meals at restaurants in Epcot!!

Bigger disappointment is all the restaurants at CSR are off the list. Can't use to dining plan at the resort you stay at is a real bummer.

Most of these places will be added on by the end of the year. This happens every year. Just keep an eye out on this.

Every year there are restaurants that take a little longer to get on board with the dining plan, if you keep checking it is very likely that they'll be added. I'm hoping this happens soon, just for ease of mind when I make my ADR's!

Yep, Shelly and Carter are correct. Every year, the initial brochure comes out listing ONLY the restaurants that Disney owns and operates. The restaurants that are owned/run by outside companies have an annual negotiation process before they are officially considered on the plan. This happens every year, and the really final, accurate list isn't generally available until Dec.

In the meantime, remember this - in the history of the dining plan in its current form, only one restaurant has actually been removed from the participating restaurants list (Fultons, which was on the plan in the first year it was offered, but not in any year since).

I wouldn't worry about it. I think it was more, "well, you're on the phone right now making changes, so we might as well make it a package so that you can just apply the deal when it comes out." She did directly say that it would have to be a package to take advantage of the deal, so I'm guessing 4/3. When the deal comes out, you should be able to make the changes no problem.

FOR THOSE WITH ROOM RESERVATIONS ONLY...I called and switche dthem already because our group has five rooms and I didn't want to take the time to change everything over once the deal had been announced. I am GLAD I did, because it took almost an hour to do it. Each reservation had to be re-booked, all the info entered again, new reservation numbers, etc... Mostly it was just me waiting on the other end of the phone, but you will have to do all that BEFORE you can give them a code to apply to your package. Like I said, I have five rooms and didn't want to waste all that time when they could be applying codes and saving me money! It's $200 deposit per reservation, no matter what the package total is. I did room and tickets and will worry about dining later, if it's not part of the offer.

Many of us have APs so we just buy the one day ticket and then upgrade it to an AP. We stay at all levels of resorts but would prefer a better resort with a discount.

ITA We got to WDW for the atmosphere, rides, characters and shopping. We do not go to pig out. We can eat anywhere we want at home but we cannot see Mickey or ride Dumbo at home.

Exactly! People who go to WDW are in many different situations. I like that Disney offers so many options to try to accomodate as many people as possible. Not just the family of 4 who want the DDP and want to stay at a value resort. It seems that there are a lot of people in that situation on this board. Unfortunatly they sometimes try to project their situation on the rest of us.

For my upcoming trip I considered staying at POP to save money, but the more I thought about it the more I realized I really wouldn't be happy if I wasn't at my Wilderness Lodge. I'm mentally at the point now where if I can't stay at the WL for 40% off (+/-) I won't go this year. I just can't justify rack rate in this economy when there should be awesome discounts.

I'm just getting kind of tired of people making the blanket statement of "oh free dining is the best!" when in reality it is the best only for them and people like them. And whether they say it or not that almost always means 3-4 "Disney adults" staying at a value. Most times when I've gone to WDW I've been traveling with one other adult and staying at WL. Hello - there are a lot of us out here who don't stay in values. Free dining is not the best for us. Frankly, (and I can take the flames) I would love it if free dining was never offered again! It would make it easier for the rest of us who like an occasional TS meal to get ADRs.

I'm glad the free dining lovers love their free dining. But there are many of us that it doesn't benefit, like those of us who aren't interested in the dining plan in the first place. Or who are smaller parties staying at deluxe resorts. Does every thread about rumored discounts have to be hijacked by so many people going on and on about free dining?

I have a toddler who was 18 months old the last time we went to Disney and will be 2 1/2 or so when we go back (trying to return before the age of 3 to avoid paying for tickets and dining at buffets.

We did the deluxe dining last time and will likely do it again. With a toddler, it was very nice to have set times for a rest without going back to the resort. The restaurants force all 4 of us (we have a preteen) to stop and enjoy the surroundings. We love character meals and booked as many as possible.

Many people may not consider it a good deal. But for those of us wanting to sit and relax for a little bit, the dining plan is great.

My preteen has been 3 times in the last 6 years. She loved the last one the best because we took so many breaks. But we aren't big on the "scary" rides. We're at disney for the atmosphere and lowkey rides. Dining fits into it for us.

So here is MY blanket statement: I truly hope that you and everyone else gets what they are hoping for and has a wonderful time....I think that everyone deserves a great deal so they can go and experience Disney at least once, no matter their situation....

When my fiance and I hit WDW at random (usually on a weekend, one park at a time) we've never had any problem walking up to any TS restaurant and getting seated without any reservation. It could be because there's just the two of us, or it could be because we don't pick the most popular places. We don't do any hotspots or character meals on day-trips. For our upcoming full Disney week in Jan, however, we'll of course be doing ADRs and even doing a character meal or two.

I put in my dates, 2 adults and value. Now it looks like what I clicked on is gone. It was this morning when you could not book a package. It would let you look at prices but not book yet.

I really want the free dining. It would really help in our decision on whether to go this year or not.

If you book with the room only discount rate and then add the dining package it is about $108 cheaper for a party of two. and approx. $200 cheaper for a party of 4 than the free dining. The free dining was more when we compared. It cost more when I booked it. Then I changed to this and save money.

But is it really a savings of $960. Would you have ate at all of those TSs without the free dining.

We normally do a sit down every 3-4 days. So the savings would not be $960 for us. We never order a dessert (as I think they still have with the DP) so again less money.

I will ask you, since nobody answered last time, do you like the DP since eating out is not something that you rarely do at home. We eat out often so a meal out at WDW is not special.
