So if we are 2 weeks away from the trip and they offer the 4/3 deal we would have to pay a penalty?

Yes. If you are inside of 45 days from travel and modify your reservation to lower the price you will have to pay a pentaly. It's either $50 or $60 depending on how close you are to your travel date.

I just tried logging into my Disney Visa account and it says it's "website is unavailable right now because of system maintenance. Please log on later."

I've never tried to log on before on a Sunday morning at 7am  so this could be a completely normal time for them to be upgrading their site.

Keep waiting patiently I guess...:bored:

Yep, this is normal. Every Sunday morning for maintenance.

Was the 4/3 deal offered to Disney Visa cardholders first last year?

I was wondering about that this morning too. I'm thinking that it wasn't offered first because I remember being here reading the speculation right up until the offer came out on November 6 :rotfl:.

This deal has been up for a while. I can't imagine why they would announce another room deal during the same time. I'm guessing we won't hear about 4/3 until November.:confused3

THere are currently TWO room deals on the AP website. One for Sep/Oct and the other for Oct/Dec (2 different seasons). So it is possible to offer more than one room deal at a time.

Buy 4 Get 3 was offered around dinner time on a week night. I think it was November 6 and it was a general public discount. The travel dates early Jan to almost the end of June.

Wasn't it later extended to include July and early August?

It definitely was extended. We had booked for May with the buy 4/get 3 free promo and had to cancel the trip. I can't remember when Disney extended the offer but I was able to use it when I rebooked for August 6th through the 15th.

So if we are 2 weeks away from the trip and they offer the 4/3 deal we would have to pay a penalty?

I would revise my ressie now with the lowest price possible (only 1-day tickets, no park hopper, no dining, etc.). That way when you change to the 4/7 if it's offered, your total package price may still increase when you add back in tickets/dining, and you won't be penalized!!! That's what I would do.

That won't work if they are already 2 weeks out from their trip now.

i am a little confused....

is it like a press conference, an online announcement on the Disney website, a mass email first?

or does it always vary?

when they make big announcements, what is the process?

Hmmm...I have ressie for Dec 23-Dec. 28/09 There are two ressies because of price change due to code date. First one is 40% room rate from Dec. 23-25 and the second from Dec. 25-28th ( Holiday Season rate) I wonder if the 4/3 deals comes I can switch and would it be a better deal. This is POFQ???? Total cost for the two ressies is $989.79

TIA
