Rumor: Polynesian closing the Lei making desk

The last time I saw Auntie in the lobby, another CM was assisting her in walking. I’m going to see her and Ku’ulei the end of this month at a Polynesian competition. It’s very hard to believe Disney is pushing her out.

If they are pushing her out, that's beyond terrible!

So glad Tikiman posted this on his page , I agree. That The only thing that will help is if people write in about this protesting . I certainly plan to!

Auntie Kau’i is 86 years old and it has been more difficult for her. She does need assistance getting around now. I hear that she isn’t being pushed out but slowing down her activities.

Yes, Tikiman didn’t say Auntie was being pushed out in his article. Let’s not jum to conclusions.

He didn’t say pushed out of the company, but pushed out of traditional positions into lessor ones that eventually leads to them leaving the company.

“I have seen how some of these Cast Members are slowly pushed out over the years and it is really hard to see Disney not see what a value they are to the resort. Clyde Min was the last GM to really understand the value of these longtime cast members...making them happy translated to the guests...now it is all about money...part of that mentality is why I hear they are going to close the lei making desk...”

“I think shutting this down and shuffling these icons off to some other less meaningful position of the resort is a bad move and is a signal that they don’t see the importance of their contribution. It is not the first time I have seen them push a long time Cast Member into a lesser position that eventually leads to them leaving the company.”

I have just read his article on the site and I will say it was a very honest, somewhat scathing and surprising opinion on the Poly and it's current state. I will give Tikiman kudos though for being so honest, with not only the good things about the resort, but the bad as well. I have yet to stay at the Poly, but I am planning on a possible two-night stay there in the future just to check it out and see how I like it. But I will admit, I am not as excited about a possible stay there now as I was in the past. But I am most certainly going to give it a try at some point.
