ok so tonight I was at the Disney store and over heard two CM's talking to a poilce officer, one said
" my sister works in Disney World and she said that they are building a new park created around villans, and it will be full of extreme rides"
Other CM
"I didnt hear that yet"
Origianl CM
"well my sister would know she works there"
THEN I left, BUT Thought I had to rush home and share the so called rumor possible truth with ya'll!

I personally think it would be cool, and I think Disney needs some extreme rides to compete with other theme parks!

Just my 2 cents

I have actually heard this one before...a while ago. I don't know if I believe it? I feel like Disney needs more of a theme than just "villians". I can't picture them havin an all "evil" park! :rotfl:

This rumor has been going around for years.

And while it would be great, I doubt Disney would ever do it. A Villians park would be WAY to scary for little ones.

I believe Disney has said they have no plans for a 5th park at this time & are going to focus on their established parks & resorts.

Though they do have plenty of land. I am sure eventually they will build a new park, but it wont be for years and years.

Rumor that is at least 3 years old now. Many people believed it would be called "Shadowlands", but that is the name of a best selling novel.

On one of the Travel Channel shows Kathy Magnus (WDI boss)stated: "Thrill parks are for others to do; not the Disney Company".

They still have room to build two parks.

There was talk this year of doing 2 Halloween themed programs. 1- the classic MNSSHP at the Magic Kingdom and another Holloween themed special night at MGM for adults and older kids featuring the villans. This would be to compete with Universal. I'm not sure what the status of this plan is (or even if it was a real plan).

i don't think disney would build a park around villians, but i could see them building a land based on this in either the Magic Kingdom or MGM

Don't expect a new park any time soon. Disney will be concentrating on the parks it has, adding new attractions. But sadly, no new parks.

Purportedly, Disney did purchase a lot of land in Van Alstyne (sp?) Texas about a year ago. I don't know what they plan to do with it, (or if Disney truly owns it) but it was something like 60 ACRES. When this was announced via radio, it was mentioned that this information should have never leaked.

I have a lady in my company who lives outside of Van Alstyne (sp?) Texas who has said there is 50 - 70 ACRES of land that was purchased last year and the city will not say who purchased it or what it is being used for. Very curious.

She called a radio station titled K.L.I.F. about the comments they made about Disney owning that land and was told by the admin she spoke to that they were requested they never say that on their station again. Her sister works for a station titled K.L.U.V. and she confirms that K.L.I.F. was threatened with a lawsuit by Disney if they mention that property purchase being conducted by Disney again.

Now, of course, we do not know if any of this is true, but how interesting if it were to be true. I wonder what Disney would build? Perhaps that is the new location for the Pixar Studio. :teeth: Or maybe, Disney has plans to open some office buildings and rent them out. Either way, that is a fine amount of land to build something on.

I believe this is to go into effect this year.

Hong Kong Disneyland is about 100 acres. You aren't going to fit a very big park on 50-70 acres of land.

The Texas rumor is older than the "Shadowlands" rumor. I first heard it in the '70s...

There are lots of rumors floating around for new parks or new attractions etc. Some of them seem like they could be legit, others seem like they probably started wtih someone saying "Wouldn't it be cool if Disney did......" and it got twisted into "Disney is going to ....."

The Disney Villian park sounds just like that. It sounds more like someone saying "Wouldn't it be cool if Disney built an extreme ride park and it could be themed around Villians or something like that....." And that gets twisted into a rumor.

Or

There has been more talk about a Villians ride or even possibly a small Villians area in Fantasyland. Jim Hill Media has covered this in the past with the concept of Villian Mountain as part of a Villian's area considered for the former 20000 Leagues Under the Sea area at MK. This sounds a bit more like a possibility. An attraction with a small area focusing on Villians within Fantasyland does sound like something Disney would do. A Villian's theme park full of extreme rides sounds more like a "Wouldn't it be cool..." But nothing that really came out of Disney.

Personally, I would never believe a rumor that I heard inside a Children's Place (Disney Store). They aren't even Castmembers anymore. It would be just like hearing somebody on a bus, going to work talking about the same thing. It's just a rumor. The fact that it was heard in a former Disney-owned store means nothing.

This rumor has been going around at least since Universal opened Islands of Adventure in 1999.The thinking is that Disney should open a park that appeals more to the teens and early adult crowd with rollercoasters and thrill rides all themed around Disney villains.I would love for such a park to happen, but I wouldn't expect it or another new park for at least 5 years(2011) to coincide with a 40th anniversary, but it could be longer and it could be something totally different from a villains theme park. Plus I keep hearing Disney is cosidering improving their current parks with new attractions and rides and not to expect a new theme park for a while which in my opinion would be a good thing before they hop on to a new park.I feel that MK, MGM and even AK(even with Everest recently opening)all need new attractions badly, EPCOT is ok for the meantime but a new attraction to take the place of Wonders of Life and Universe of Energy will probably also happen. Someone said Disney has room for 2 new parks and from what I've heard they have space for up to 4 more parks, not counting the land they have set aside as a nature preserve that's not supposed to be built on.

An entire park, no.. But a ride themed to the villians I can see, maybe in the spot where 20K was located, behind Pooh's Playful Spot...

This one's been around so long, I am strating to believe it myself :confused3

How many resort destinations can anyone name that have more than two theme parks? WDW is unique because of the fact that it has 4 theme parks, 2 water parks and everything else that the resort offers. A 5th park? Could happen sometime, but if it does, I can almost guarantee it would be the last. There's only so much that they can offer that families can enjoy on a single trip. I think five theme parks would be stretching not only the experience, but the average vacation budget a little bit thin.

Personally, I believe WDW has plenty in the way of gated attractions and when you factor in the shopping, water parks and all of the recreational activities, I don't think anyone can complain about not having enough to do at WDW, besides go to Universal, which is thier choice. My trips to WDW are usually 7 to 9 days and I rarely leave the property.

Ouch! Are you a disgruntled cast member of the Disney Store? Even DL and WDW cast members aren't 100% acurate ~rumors fly around there pretty fast too!

Is it really any different than reading something on internet chatboards?

Seriously, they definitely need to improve the parks they have now. Maybe add monorail access! Just keep on track the way they are now...adding better rides and experiences. Also, remember, for those of us who live in Florida, there is a huge market for attracting Floridians to pay big money for season passes. Busch Gardens, Universal, etc., and WDW are always competing in this area. My friends are always discussing if they are going to renew their Disney passes each year. We are, but I know a few families who aren't, because they feel they need to add more things to the parks. They've done the same things over and over. The other big parks are constantly adding huge rides, so WDW cannot slack in any way. They are doing a great job with Epcot, the other parks are following suit. AK is finally not so boring now. JMHO. ;)

Also, right now, we can afford the passes for our family @ 2 adults and 2 kids, but if they put another stinkin' park on and increased the price, I don't think we could swing it. Most of my friends with families say the same thing.
