I wonder what itinerary the two new ships would do? Whether they are based in Europe or in west coast or???

Of course I am hoping for Hawaii or west coast.

Any new ships would take about five years to come into service.

They need another one in Europe

My wife and I talked about Cuba opening up last night. If DCL or ABD offers options to go we will be waiting on opening day to sign up.

I have a lot of friends who travelled to Cuba... From what I understand, the hotels are okay, the food is not good but the beaches are amazing. It would definitely make a great (and safe) port to visit.

D23 is an official Disney fan club. Membership is something like $80 per year.

My guess new ships (if they are announced) would likely sail out of PC and allow the other ships to seasonally roam to other ports. At the end of the day, PC sailings are DCL's bell cow and the newest ships would probably be tied to there like the Dream and Fantasty were.

The actual wording from the DIS is actually a Second Caribbean Island. That would be ideal! I could definitely imagine a cruise sailing only to Disney Private Islands.

Well Castaway is in the Bahamas not the Caribbean. So if they did one in the Caribbean it would be the first one there.

Any possible private island would be of interest to all the cruise lines and have massive competition.

I won't put much stock in another private island. Especially when the boards are all lit up with people wanting new itineraries and destinations.

I could see them moving one of the Dream class ships away and not both, IF the new rumored ships are indeed a smaller capacity. Port Canaveral is so close to Disney, DCL would just be giving up passengers if the ships were always sold out and people instead had to book on the new RCCL and NCL ships coming to PC.

There have been rumors for a few years now about sailings out of New Orleans. That would literally make my week if they announced that tomorrow (although I know the odds are slim to none).

As a publicly traded company any order of this magnitude would need to be signed by the CEO of Disney and would immediately become public knowledge. And the previous posters are correct that there is a 5 year waiting list for new ships.

i hope the two new ships are bigger than the Fantasy and The Dream. DCL needs to be a bit more competitive with the other luxury cruise liners which are bigger than DCL.

Everything that's been said about new ships indicates they will be in between the classic and Dream class ships in size.

I don't want them to make bigger ships just to "keep up with the Joneses". Bigger isn't always better, and there is something to be said for quality vs quantity.

I assume you mean the RCCL megaships, but neither they nor Disney are considered luxury lines. There's also a fair amount of antipathy about the megaships; I haven't been on one but the sense I get is a less personal, intimate experience.

And, truth be told, I find the Fantasy and Dream bigger than I want to be on. Too many people trying to be in the same places at the same time. More walking to get anywhere. People seemed less friendly (the guests, not the crew). On smaller ships you actually get to know other people (especially on the longer cruises we prefer).

Our preference for ship is no larger than the Magic/Wonder.

^ This. I have never sailed on the Quantum- or Oasis-class ships, but they look like giant shopping malls on the videos and shows I've seen about them. Not intimate at all.
