Rumor: MSEP closing?!

What the heck? :( My family LOVES MSEP, and we were so looking forward to the chance to see it again on our trip in Nov. (haven't been to Disney in 10 years). It will be my 2.75yo (in Nov) DD's first trip and she would LOVE the MSEP. We were definitely planning on taking her to see it (even keeping her up late one night for it). We even showed her YouTube videos of it. We already planned what night we would go since the times were listed on the calendar. I admit I'll be a bit devastated if there is no MSEP, especially if there's no nighttime parade at all :(
Hopefully, they will replace it with something better, like Paint the Night!

I'm super excited for the closing of the electrical parade. It stinks in comparison to Paint the Night in DL. Paint the Night has awesome modern floats that are spectacular! Disney World deserves a parade like that.

Yes, they deserve a parade like that. But many DL guests are hoping they don't get that very parade.

Is it official that MSEP is closing at MK or is this still all speculation?

Hmm.. don't get it, what would they do to those who have booked the dining package? just cancel it?

Everyone says PTN is not coming to WDE, but PTN's last date at Disneyland is confirmed as September 5, and MSEP's last date at WDW is rumored to be September 10, even though it is on the schedule for the next few months. If the MSEP rumor is true, that sure sounds to me like 1) PTN is coming to WDW (possibly switching so DL gets MSEP back) OR 2) Disney has decided that night time electrical parades are too expensive and are canning them both. Personally, my suspicion is that PTN is coming to WDW-- they invested a huge amount in that parade, it is absolutely spectacular (I've seen it more than once), and it is still hugely popular at DLR, yet confirmed to be ending there.

I just don't think that's enough time to get everything all set up. According to Google it takes 36 driving hours to go from Anaheim to Orlando. So a day and a half's worth of travel would mean everything gets there by September 7th. Does 4 days really give them enough time to unload everything, assemble everything, and get it to show conditions? Honest question, I have no idea. I'm thinking they'd be able to if they had that "old" Disney mentality, but with the current trends of "slow building", I just don't think so.

Or do they transport everything via air? I really have no idea.

Maybe I'm wrong though.

Halloween parties after the 10th will be 3 nights a week. Then up to 4 nights a week. My guess is they are closing the MSEP, because they will already be running the Halloween parade 3 or 4 nights a week. So basically if you want a nighttime parade, you will have to pay for it. They want to sell all those tickets that they raised the prices for.
Once the Halloween and Christmas season is over then you may get a parade back.
This is just my thinking, I have no inside knowledge or anything.

Ah...I forgot Disney's Halloween starts in September.

They ship by truck and rail. It takes weeks, if not months, to completely move a parade. There is a break-down, packing, shipping, setup, technical trails, plus casting and rehearsals.

People forget Disneyland Paris is having a huge 25th anniversary celebration kicking off next year. PTN or MSEP may be heading there. (Ai12gani below is probably correct, DL Paris doesn't really need a nighttime parade until after summer 2017).

I'm pretty much certain the PTN is NOT coming to MK, it wouldn't make sense if it did. Because if PTN finishes Sept 5th, it would take at least a month if not more to get the floats over to FL, train drivers and preformers. By then there would be Halloween parties 4 times a week then Christmas parties after that.

With that said, am I the only one that wasn't wowed with PTN. The floats where nice(although I personally prefer the old lighting tech found on MSEP and Dreamlights, it just seems more magical), but the music was essentially a pop song and felt cheaty to use a pre existing song.

Doesn't the WDW execs not want to pay for a new night parade. Which is bad because I think a night parade is need for MK. Who are the execs for WDW anyway and when do we get new ones?

I don't think that Paris would be getting a night parade anyway because they stopped Fantillusion because in the summer it was too bright and sometimes the floats would go into 2nd gear beacuse dreams was going to start. And also it's their 25th ani not 35th

Keyboard slip-up.

That makes sense though, sun doesn't go down until after 10 in the Summer time.

I was thinking more not that PTN would start September 10, but that if they moved things by truck- they might pack it up by truck and get it to WDW around the 10th- and then the trucks would be there for them to pack them up with ELP a few days later and ship that back to DLR. I figured PTN might start a couple of weeks after that. I didn't think about the fact of the time line of training float drivers and tech people on it at WDW though (and the CM dancers, but most of those dancers are really talented and can pick up parade routines really fast I would think) --I'm sure the people wouldn't all be up and moving from CA to FL. Starting to sound more like they are just trying to cut costs by cutting the electrical parade from both locations in the off season.

They don't get the option. Performers are "at will" contract employees and are laid off when the show/parade goes dark. New shows and seasonal revivals all have casting calls and new auditions.

Curious if you know...when a performer is part of a show that is retiring, does Disney work with the individual to try and find a new job for them within the company if the individuals wishes to continue to work for Disney? Even if the performer doesn't go into another entertainment position.

For instance, say a performer in Lights, Motors, Action wanted to stay with the company. Even if there are no spots in entertainment open, could that individual get relocated to food service/merchandise or something?
