Rumor: MSEP closing?!

Doesn't mean PTN can't come to WDW in January.

Wasn't there a report back when PTN first premiered at DL that the floats were too large to make the turn at the train station here?

I swear there was, but I can't find it through Google.

True, but that would be a very tight turn around to make January. Don't get me wrong, I am crossing my fingers and toes that it MIGHT happen, but I won't hold my breath.

Disney updated saying Paint the Night "will return [to Disneyland] on select nights during the holiday season later this year."

That's as clear as mud.

That could just mean a few nights over Christmas week itself, or it could mean it will be a giveback to replace Fantasmic on weekend nights during the entire holiday season.

If they follow the game plan I have mapped out for them, they will start offering a Christmas party this year, but use PTN as a give back to replace the fact that day guests would no longer get the Christmas parade for "free".

I don't think so. MKs turn is wider than DL isn't it?

A parade doesn't turn around that quickly though. Disney Parks Blog also commented that there are currently no plans for Paint the Night to go to WDW. That announcement can come at a later time I know, but if it does end up at WDW, it would at least be February or March. The Main Street Electrical Parade is coming to Disneyland, but it isn't starting until early 2017. That's October-probably January with it being not performed.

I don't know about by the train station, but from personal experience watching the parade, the turn by the castle always seemed really tight to me.

Disney Blogs has responded they do not plan to move PTN: https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/b...-limited-time-last-chance-to-paint-the-night/
  • Wait…if Paint the Night is returning in the holiday season, does that mean both parades will be kept in Disneyland?

    • Future plans have not yet been determined, but at this time there are no plans to bring “Paint the Night” to Walt Disney World Resort.

I want to know what will replace MSEP! Something right? I sure hope so.

I'm not sure what's going on anymore. Will MK even have a parade at night anymore?

That might have been it. I'll have to take a look.

To summarize what I'm reading and seeing, I'd imagine that all parties (Burbank, WDW, and DL) believe that it's time to retire MSEP. But there hasn't been any agreement as to whether DL will give up PTN.

Of course they'll have a parade at night - however, it may just be a period of time without one. Similarly to the break between CADCT and FoF.

Now, whether or not that leads to PTN or a new parade is still in the air.

I remember many years ago when they announced it would go to California Adventure, and I was upset that they weren't putting it back at Disneyland. Based on this announcement being described as a "limited-time encore engagement," I can see this being the final run of the parade. That would make me really sad because it's been my favorite Disney parade since I was a kid. I am happy to see it going home to Disneyland though. I hope it will be around next summer still when I plan to be there for D23.

The MSEP first debuted on June 17, 1972. I wouldn't be surprised if that's announced as the final show date. It also allows for the floats to be displayed at D23 if they so choose, which is a month later.

Nothing has been announced. The MSEP was only supposed to be at WDW for a limited time and it lasted 6 years. Spectromagic has been the rumor, but I don't think that will happen since people say that there were pins created with parts of the floats.

That would be a very nice tribute if Disney did that. I would not be upset if they did that. I would just be sad that I would never see the parade again.

Yeah, no. Spectromagic was turned to scrap.

Any rumors that it will return is just wishful thinking.

There was some speculation (don't know if it was even based on a credible rumor) that maybe they would run FoF at night. Who the heck knows.

I do know my friend going to WDW in November is very disappointed in how this played out.
