According to Screamscape:

"Seven Dwarfs Mine Train - (1/27/14) The latest buzz from Screamscape sources is that despite a desire to open the new Seven Dwarfs coaster in February, the project is a bit behind schedule and is now looking at an opening date sometime between late March to early April if all goes well."

It's just a rumor, but late March would be an earlier open for the Mine Train than I would have thought.

Well it could be a soft opening late march and grand opening early April. From the daily pictures I see of the mine they are working pretty good on it despite everyone complaining that they are so far behind and what not. Which really spring 2014 was the target all along.

This was from the disney park blog today

It looks like the goal was for a soft opening in early Feb but that's been pushed back to some time in March.

I wonder if the grand opening date was planned for early April all along, and the push back of the soft opening will just shorten the timeframe between the soft opening and the grand opening (when they reopened Test Track at the end of 2012, there was only a couple of days between the soft opening and the grand opening).

I really hope it's open for sure by mid-April because we might be visiting at that time! What do you guys think the chances of it being opening then are?

I think one thing seems to be certain...Seven Dwarves Mine Train will be on the level of Splash Mountain and Space Mountain FOREVER.

A great addition to the already-loaded MK.

Only 2 guys work on it at one time. They should have hired the universal contractors to build it. Oddly enough, the new restaurant opened pretty quickly..

There's still scaffolding... And a recent pic I saw on another thread shows that the dwarves cottage still has scaffolding and not much detail work yet

His latest update says early May for grand opening:

(2/2/14) The Disney Parks Blog gives us a peak inside the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train this week, with a close up look at some of the amazing themed textures we will find in the queue and attraction area when it finally opens to guests. Speaking of which, while there has been no further update on a soft-opening date, I’m told that the official grand opening and press event for the ride has been set sometime in early May 2014.

Spring 2014 has been the announced opening date for years. Disney staged the opening of the Fantasyland expansion over more the one year. Disney didn't see the need to spend the money to open the attraction earlier.

Universal wanted Transformers to open quickly. Word is construction was going on almost 24/7 They spent the money to meet their deadline. Disney is spending the money to open the minetrain as per Disney's deadline (announced opening)

Dave, How do you know its not the same company?........they are given a construction plan and timing and follow it!

I will cry, if it isn't opened by May 1st. I moved our vacation back 2 months, in hopes of being able to visit the Dwarfs Mine. :scared:

even if it's not officially open by then you're bound to have an opportunity with soft openings at that point

What exactly is a "soft opening"? Have they done this in the past with other rides, also? Thanks!

they do it with every ride. The ride opens prior to the official opening as a test. This is to make sure that the ride works right and to make sure they have the kinks worked out. Usually with a soft opening it's not opened every day or only for a certain time of day. With the new princess fairy tale hall they only opened it to disney bloggers so they also sometimes only allow certain groups to test attractions.

we will be there the 28th of march through april 5th. hopefully it will be open but if not we will be back in June and I'm pretty confident we'll get a chance to ride then :)

To quote Ocean's 13: "It's like an out-of-town preview, only in town."

Really, they just open it up slowly...followed by an official grand opening a little later. Kind of like what some stores do.
