RUMOR - Fantastic Beasts is replacing Dragon Challenge

A rumor from some guy who heard it from his uncle that works for Universal...thats only slightly less reliable than getting info from the Dippin Dots guy...

That being said, parts of that seem plausible... The dragons are probably due for some track work, just like Hulk (since they are all B&M's and the same age). Some rock work and fog world make the site look nicer, and the queue could use some work.

I'd be surprised to see them take out coasters... It would seem more likely that they would scrap the Sinbad show and have HP take over what's left of the Lost Continent.

A lot of that is related to capacity though... Even with only 2 trains running on each side the Dragons can put through more than twice the number of people that FJ can.

Maybe, but there were like 100 people in line for the Dragons - and an uncountable mob at Forbidden Journey. ...then there was the ridiculous glut of people in the shops and locker area. (Can't the Universal folks go across town to see how to build a shop? ...and to see that the lockers are a bad idea?)

Why are lockers such a bad idea?

has for shop size the books are british the shops are also british if you have ever been to England the shops are tiny along with their houses.

As I live in England I can confirm not all shops are like this........and I'm pretty sure I live in quite a big house........

Everything in Potter is built for image.

The shop sizes were dictated by JK Rowling... Part of the conditions of letting Uni use the HP brand was that they built everything exactly the way it was described in the books or shown in the movies. This is also rumored to be a bit part of why Uni got HP instead of Disney...Disney wouldn't go along with all of Rowling's requirements.

yes my brother in law is from manchester

There's big houses in Manchester too........

Maybe your brother in law lives in a small house, but...........we don't all live that way.

And we really do have quite a few large shops over here too.........::yes::

Yep, I thought everyone knew that.........seems not!

Of course, this is just my opinion, but they are a tremendous hassle. At Disney, the stuff I choose to carry on a ride is my responsibility. They don't dictate to me what can and cannot be brought on. At Universal, nothing can be brought on, so they don't provide a bag or stow compartment on the ride like they do at Disney. They force you into the hassle of the lockers. The locker rooms are small and cramped with hundreds of people moving in and out trying to stow or retrieve their stuff. HASSLE.

The shops are cute and quaint - laid out for a small village's foot traffic that might see 100 people in a day. Of course the problem is that they're probably seeing 20,000 people a day. Those shops are a nightmare. Don't they want people to come in? They are repulsive to those that don't like cramped quarters.

Comparing the shop sizes at all of Britain is silly. They're not meant to depict an average British shop. They're meant to depict the character of Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley. I'm pretty sure shops like that exist in the UK. I remember staying at a small inn in Wales that could have sufficed as a location for the Leaky Cauldron scenes.

The rides at Disney are very different to those in Universal. You are not allowed to carry items on that may cause harm to others. I don't want people carrying stuff on to rides that could potentially harm anyone by flying off similar to what happened to the guy who lost an eye on Duelling Dragons........

You say it's your responsibility.........it's really not. Universal are responsible to make us all safe and by having their policies they are doing their best. It's very simple if you don't want to be dictated to, don't go on those rides that do put restrictions on. But many of us are happy Universal are as diligent as they are with their restrictions.

I would rather take a few minutes and put such things in a locker than cause harm to anyone.......I don't see it as a hassle at all.......the lockers we have always found easy when we do use them. We tend to head to rear of the locker area......usually quieter.

The shops are the way they are described in the book as described by the author and they are that way at her insistence. I'm sure Universal would have them bigger if they had their way......but, it works. Yes they are cramped at times but they make a heck of a lot of money. It's a shame if you find them repulsive, but many thousands don't.

Correct :thumbsup2

There are little quaint shops and pubs like that all over the UK in certain places, and have their place.......but I astounded anyone would really think it's all like that??

There's a place in York called The Shambles that's almost identical to her description of Diagon Alley.........whenever I see it I think of that street in York. Quaint, but quite cramped.

Blame JK for the shops... They are really more of an attraction than a shop anyhow (they used to have queues set up outside them). If you just want to buy stuff they sell all the same HP stuff in the main gift shops and the big Universal Store in CityWalk.

Other than the ones at Forbidden Journey (which are set up lousy) the lockers are no big deal. And they are free. It never used to be that they were required, but after a series of incidents (whether accidents or done on purpose...) I'm sure the lawyers insisted on them. On the plus side they speed up dispatches since you don't have to wait for everyone climbing through the trains to stow all their stuff...
