Reliable insider Magic Feather at wdwmagic hinted at a potential DVC property at Hong Kong Disneyland. There was discussion about the unlikelihood of another off-site DVC property after lackluster sales at Aulani, and he replied "What if it were at HKDLR?" This same insider had details on Riviera months before its announcement.

I would love if they built DVC at all of the international parks, especially Tokyo. Starting with HK would be a little surprising.

I really, really doubt it. HK Disney is majority owned by the government, and managed by Disney. Disney's only got about a 40% stake in that project, plus licensing. Then there's the issues of international rules relative to timeshare ownership properties.

I just can't see it, unless someone wants to take a huge gamble.

Would be awesome if it happens! However, I shudder to think about the potential buy-in cost.

Anyone who actually has inside information does not share it or even hint at it. As others have stated, it is not even owned by Disney, let alone any sort of positive financial move, so I find it extremely unlikely.

Not true. Nearly every new attraction (Ratatouille, Mickey ride, Guardians coaster, details on Star Wars rides and more) and hotel (Riviera, Coronado tower, Star Wars resort, and the upcoming Epcot hotel) the past few years has been leaked on wdwmagic months or years before it's announced by Disney.

I have my doubts. Given international destinations would likely boost sales, but waiting 25 years after DVC started to introduce them just doesn't make sense. What I could see happening is DVC partnering privately with timeshares near foreign Disney parks for a separate trading agreement, and it would probably still take a LOT of points.

If it were a resort area more solidly owned by Disney (say, Paris, now), where the majority stakeholder was NOT basically the regional government, it might be more credible as a rumor.

While the economic/political system is autonomous from the mainland, it's still Chinese.

While there are timeshares there, I wonder how many have done significant expansion (or initiation) post-1997?

Not true, RUMORS circulated by someone "unnamed" who allegedly has insider information. There are many things people can assume using "someone on the inside" but I can assure you, this person, if there even is one, is not truly on the inside.

Maybe. Maybe not. Either way, he/she is considered a very credible source in the Disney rumors world.
