My husband heard a rumor on another website and asked if I knew anything about the BTMR refurbishment. I know it starts in Jan and goes through October, but he heard that they are adding a loop! Anyone else hear this rumor? Thoughts?

I believe that is a joke in reference to the last POTC refurb, where everyone wanted to know what was being changed and the standard reply was they were adding mermaids and a loop. The joke gets made about any refurb.

From what I hear, they are replacing the whole track, completely redoing the loading stations to be wider, and fixing up old effects that are non working. Anything other than that is speculation (most are hoping for something new). There is also rumors of a nextgen queue.

Ok that makes sense. Makes me feel better too. Not that I don't do upside down stuff, but I just can't imagine BTMR like that.

I hope they put the doors back in. Those haven't worked in years and years.

Pardon my new-here-ignorance. What is a nextgen queue? Thanks!

Yes NextGen will be like an uber-Fastpass. It is still a couple of years off from being implemented at Dland (I've read it will happen at WDW first). From what I've read it is a full reservation system for your entire Dland experience. (It will of course cost extra to use it.) While you are planning for your trip (even before you arrive at the parks) you will be able to make reservations to ride specific rides at a set time, meet specific characters at a set time, have reserved seats for shows, and of course it will include dining reservations too. Thus you will arrive at Dland with an itinerary that has all these various reservations you've made. It will save you from standing in lines and waiting. But it also means you are on a schedule w/ reduced spontaneity in your visit.

BTMR doesn't have the room for a loop, the trains couldn't go fast enough to make it through one... unfortunately! :lmao:

It would take a lot of redesigning of the track and the cars to allow for a loop. It also wouldnt really fit with the "run away train on a mine cart track" theming the ride currently has.

It would be nice if they put in 2 bars instead of just one when they remodel (so i dont have to try and crush my legs to get the bar down far enough to keep my kid in).

I'd just be happy if they put the DLP version of the ride in, never mind a loop!
