There is a rumor circulating that the Lights of Winter (the lights that connect Future World to World Showcase at EPCOT) will not be setup this year. The rumor also says they may not appear in the coming years as well. The lights will be replaced with a stage and gospel choir called “D’Vine Voices”

I really hope this is a false rumor. The Lights of Winter are a staple to the EPCOT holiday landscape. Losing them would be a shame. It must be stressed this is just a rumor at this point. No official announcement from Disney...The rumor stemmed from EPCOT cast members and the fact the lights are still in storage and will/are not be staged for setup.

Anyone heard anything else?

I saw a friend of mine post that yesterday on Facebook. She lives in the Orlando area and posts updates for her photo site. She is a source I trust. She had posted that she's been hearing that floating around from various sources.

So at least there is a buzz going around. Just can't get a confirmation on that yet. But yeah, I love the Lights of Winter. I would be sad if they were not put up this year and years to come. :sad2:

Smack Talk Alert!

No trouble here...Trouble at the TSM party when I drop 250,000 points on you! :lmao: ;)

Um all I have to say is

BRING IT!!!!!!

I will wipe up the floor with you.

I also heard a rumor, that due to guest demand, there will be no Christmas Trees at any of the parks this year due to economic conditions.

So sad. :sad2:

I also heard a rumor that the every 3 word in the Candlelight Processional will be been spoken or sung, due to Disney wanting to not release as much CO2 into the air, but will feed the cast "baked beans" before the show. This is a cost cutting move to lower the food spend for the cast.

More SMACK!

Ya'll are both going down!

Did you just hear that? That was the sound of the Indiana crowd going down in flames on TSM!!

Wasn't it last year that they discontinued the tree lighting ceremony at Epcot? They did a little "show" before they lit the big tree? They took that away and now Lights of Winter? (if true)

And as for the Lights of Winter, how much could this cost? The equipment is already there, would it save them that much in electricity? :sad2:

it's not about cost and it's not about going green. If this holds true, it's about them being completely out of touch with what their guests want.

edit: well it IS about money, because that's all Disney cares about anymore. However, they are still out of touch with what their guests want.

It appears that the TSM has become a battlefield - let the games begin

Maybe we should all bring our Christmas Lights to Epcot. We could set them up where the Lights of Winter were.... run an extension cable from somebody's hotel room... I'm sure we could get quite a good display going....!

I have been going over the information that Disney has put out on holiday activities and Lights of Winter have not been mentioned. I really hope that is an oversight and they will be up. They are something we go to visit quite often at Epcot during the holiday season.

I would have to agree with ADP here.

This is no coincidence.

I agree that LoW was one of the hallmarks of Epcot and Christmas for me but would be willing to give something new a shot. There are a lot of things I wish wouldn't change but in the end everything gets updated from time to time.

A Christmas choir that performs throughout the night could be cool and while there are lights all over the parks this is something that to my knowledge there is not. If it is done well it could be good even though I will miss the lights. I would rather they have it in addition to the LoW but I don't want to knock it until I see it.

Now, If the choir performs 20 minutes a night or the setup looks like something taken out of Don's Willy Wonka play I will be the first to call shenanigans.

I would love it if they added something to the park but it sure doesn't look like they are going to do that.

OH geez, I hope that this is not true. I like the gospel choir idea, but not there.
