Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

(Or, alternatively, -- and I have NOT heard anyone float this as an option being considered -- they could initially choose to open without the large-volume guest transit, and just let all guests find their own way around during Phase 1. (If they did, free parking would be a nice temporary perk.))

I’ve wondered if they might go that route as well as it would save them the hassle of having to increase buses and monitor capacity.

Does anyone? Does Universal not care about the health of their guests and employees.
I think Universal may have been more motivated to open since they didn’t furlough any full time team members. Disney furloughed the majority of their workforce so they may not have as much of a financial reason to reopen soon. Universal also doesn’t face nearly the backlash if something goes wrong that Disney would. If a couple people catch COVID at Disney, it’ll be front page news across the country.

I think this is the reason. They can’t provide the normal amount of service for club level.
The problem is, they’ve got guests already booked paying CL prices. I don’t think they’re going to just turn down a money maker. I think they’ll make changes that I probably won’t like, but some will. It’s why I have a back up reservation- waiting to see what they do with CL.

They also could be cutting the number of club level rooms so that they can still accommodate the number who are booked.

Epcot and HS have 5 resorts that can walk to those parks. MK has one. Is the walkway finished from GF yet? AK is the only one with bus and car service only. Yet Epcot keeps getting mentioned in these threads as opening last. I would hope walkable parks would open first.

You HOPE there are still incentives. Right now, WDW appears to not give a whit about ticking customers off.
Besides vague communication. What have they done to tick people off? Everyone on here is so upset about the NBA like it is a done deal it will affect the opening. Nothing has been said. I mean Disney could present this week and all will be forgiven. I think a lot of people on these boards have worked themselves up about the NBA thing when there is nothing yet to get worked up about.

I wouldn't say I'm ticked off, more fatigued. I've been cancelled twice now and want to know if it's going to be a third time or not. It's annoying to me that Universal would handle the communication so much better than WDW. They've basically only said "were taking reservations, but it does not mean we'll be open". Then give us our money back and let us rebook when we know we can actually have a vacation. As we currently stand, I either cancel myself or have my money in limbo. It's 3k for my resort, 3k for our AP. I can get UOR AP for 1/3 of what I have tied up in my resort stay and my family will actually know what we're doing this summer.

That does stink. We were cancelled the first time too. We were half way there about to get to Our hotel For the night when they closed and not sure when we will be able to try to go back. First trip for our kids too. Universal only started communicating “better” in people’s eyes this week though because they announced a open date. Until then the communication had been similar. Look if this drags out and WDW is closed until Mid July or August I will get it. But in 4 days UO announced and the NBA rumors started and everyone is reading so much into those things. I will even understand people being upset if we get through this week with no communication.

I'd disagree. Universal said closed until May 31 and they're opening 5 days later. Disney offered free dining for June 1st, kept those reservations, and is cancelling, despite also saying that July 1st may not happen and not offering anything to people who booked that free dining promo. Disney just needs to tell us something. Literally anything would be better than what they're doing now.

Maybe they should just say they are closed until further notice.

We've heard from Disney twice: 1) "We may be taking June reservations, but we're not saying we'll be opening in June". And, they later said, "We're taking reservations for July but that doesn't mean we'll be open in July'. We had enough and cancelled our July trip. Sad to see our reservations disappear. But, it's also time to move on.

Obviously some sarcasm here. But there is some Truth in this. There are many, many, many more people interested in the NBA starting then those worried about WDW vacation in June or July. Doesn’t make it any less stressful for the people with vacations but that is also why the NBA is getting more media play.

And that is the cold hard truth. When NBA comes back and especially playoffs, millions will be watching. Last year from 15M for the NBA finals. - way more then coming in June/July even at normal capacity.

That's a good point but how many of those 15 million have thousands of dollars invested in watching the playoffs and/or airfare and PTO from work scheduled? I think the NBA issue is making hardcore Disney people angry for this reason, even if it makes sense to other people.

The reality is, if you want a chance to be able to go shortly after it opens, whenever that is, you’re going to have to accept this level of communication. Doesn’t matter if it’s wrong or right, it’s what they’re doing.

If you need to rant by all means rant (not like you needed my permission), but expecting different is just going to end up being frustrating and pointless. They’ll let us know when they’re opening and what it even entails on their schedule. There may not be a lot of notice.

It is a very tough balancing act for disney and their executives to make. Glad it's not me making the decisions.
