Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

I thought they were about the same, DL just has a bigger bar. Googling tells me DL capacity is 47 and WDW is 51.

Wow that's shocking. DL definitely has more bar seating and tables. Maybe the "capacity" determinations are different in Cali and Florida. Orrrrrrrrrrrr I had one too many Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Rums and it felt like a huge magical land 🍹

That is awesome to hear! Growing up, we always went Disney. So that’s what I’ve just continued with my children. However, with YouTube vlogs and stuff - my interest has been piqued over the years. My kids are ten now, so I definitely think they are at the age where they could enjoy almost everything there is there. Especially HP!
This is exactly why Disney will open at the same time. 😉

For those with early June reservations....IF they open June 1 or around that time, do you have any concerns with being the first to visit? My trip isn't until late July, but if the parks don't open until just before then I'll most likely cancel as I'd like to see a few weeks of operation before I go. Just wondering if anyone else feels that way or if most are ok being the "guinea pigs".

Not at all. I think some of the cast members will probably be just as happy to be back to work as we will be to visit them.

for me, I would rather be the first in, the CM and guests will be more eager to follow rules and procedures, the parks will be super clean. In my opinion, the longer the park operations go and people start feeling safer they will forget procedures and just act like before
I had a non essential dentist appointment that I booked first day I was able to do so and I also got a haircut, first day I was able to do so for the same reason

If it is June 1st, I wouldn’t be there for day 1 ( I arrive on the 4th), but if I were, I’d probably go and be a guinea pig. Not because I don’t have any concerns on crowds and layout, but if I’m willing to be there at the beginning, it’s not going to matter if it’s the first day, or a week after they reopen

This. Just like how most of America was united during the beginning of the "Stay at home" period but have since become restless, so it will be that way with all new rules. Going to the parks while restrictions are new will yield the highest adherence to said rules.

I have a MID June reservation (literally June 15 -20).
For me it has very little to do with being the first or not, but more on what the parks will LOOK and FEEL like by June 15th. Meaning -- what requirements are there to get in or not (temp checks, masks). I am fine with Disney requiring them, but I personally want to feel like I am going to a magical place, not a prison camp.

Will attractions be closed like indoor shows? Will there be M&Gs? Will there be parades/fireworks? Will pools be closed? Will there be Disney transportation running? Etc.

The more things "different" from a normal vacation, the less I will want to go UNLESS Disney offers me a MAJOR discount to come anyway. (Which I think they should, I shouldn't be paying pre-Covid full price for HALF a vacation).

The things people are speculating Disney will do when they open (which is fine, they have to start somewhere) -- will make it "ok" to go there as a local, but not on a out-of-state vacation.

I just think there will be a LOT of disappointed guests if people with June/July vacations go there expecting a "near normal" vacation, when it doesn't seem like that will be the case for LONG LONG time. Especially UPSET guests if Disney doesn't adjust prices somehow or offer huge bounceback promotions for those willing to come despite the reduced experience.

This. Everyone has differing opinions on what they're OK with not being present in the parks - for me I could care less about M&G but tell me I can't ride Haunted Mansion 14 times and it's not worth it.

I’m hoping for an early June opening with our trip being at the very end of June. The longer they’re open, the more feedback we’ll get as to what the experience is like and just how the country at large is doing with opening up. It also gives some chance of them opening up more attractions and events like shows and fireworks. I definitely do not want to be the guinea pig.

I appreciate your thoughts and detailed response. This pretty much sums up how I feel. I guess I’m just thinking of how there may be a big difference in what Disney “says” the rules are vs how they actually enforce those rules in practice. Which is where a few weeks of real life experience from the great folks on these boards would be helpful in planning.

I'd love to be the guinea pig. The only reason I am scheduled for the 7th and not the 1st is because of a new hire training the first week of June. Once it opens I want to be there as soon as I can!

We ended up rescheduling for July 6-10. I am hopeful we will get to go by then. My oldest daughter was able to secure a reservation for Victoria and Albert’s. It will be for her 25 birthday and will be her and her husband. I was really bummed to cancel our June reservation . I will be anxiously awaiting to hear how it goes for everyone.

I think this is an instance where it’s not up to Disney to adjust prices, it’s up to guests to determine if they’re willing to go at a full price or if they’d rather wait. People forget that going to Disney isn’t a right, they’re a private company and we have a choice whether we want to spend our money there or not. I will still go with a modified experience unless they keep most things closed and don’t allow TS, I don’t mind no M&Gs, parades or fireworks, but if all I can is walk around with a mask on and go back to the room I’m gone. Otherwise I’m fine with my room at Poly and enjoying what we can, which is hopefully most rides and dining with modifications. I don’t expect Disney to do big price drops, they know they need to keep crowds low now; lowering prices will drive attendance, so for now I think we all just have to make our own decisions about what is worth the cost.

I’d love to be a guinea pig, but could never live with myself if I infected a family member or co-worker upon my return. I want to go to Disney for me, but I won’t go for others.
If we are able to go this summer, we will self quarentine both before we go to make sure we aren't bringing anything down with us, and for 14 days after to make sure we don't infect anyone upon return. We are fortunate to be able to do that because my husband works in IT and has lots of "work from home" flexibility. His employer is aware we still plan on going if it's open and is totally ok with this.

I’d totally do that if I could. Two days after we are scheduled to return in August, my wife goes back to teaching and my two kids go back to separate daycares (so is the plan right now but who knows...)

I was booked June 1-9. I decided to rebook for mid-August for that very reason. I think attraction availability will be much more limited at first. I also want to wait and see what happens with the safety measures they implement. If I didn’t have children, it would probably be less of a problem. I also live far North and only get once a year at the parks, so there is a lot of investment in that short week of vacation. Hopefully they open soon and give time for testing and tuning their methods.

Oh .. I don't "EXPECT" Disney to drop prices right away (or at all), I don't think Disney is a "right" .. I am just stating what I feel from a "value" perspective. Which I do everytime I plan a Disney trip. Do I stay at the Poly or Pop? I decide how much money I want to spend for the value I personally think my family is getting. It is an individual choice.

So I guess .. if Disney offers me some sort of discount to keep my June reservation, that will go a LONG way in helping me decide if I want to come. But, like you stated, they may not need me to come since they want to keep capacity low. So they are happy just taking the money from people who don't mind paying full price for a reduced experience.

Long story, short: Disney hasn't provided ME personally with enough information yet to know if I will go or not in mid-June.
