Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

Shanghai had dated tickets, anyone know how does ticketing work for Shanghai going forward, is it still dated ticket purchases only and for how long? Does that park have AP holders? Is the ticketing situation for Shanghai something that is usually comparable to DL (prior to current situation) or is it unique just to Shanghai? I've never been to the overseas parks, so don't know anything about their ticketing. Wondering if they are using it as a model that may be used in DL.
Guests are required to purchase dated admission tickets prior to their arrival, and AP holders must make a reservation for their visit date and time through the website before their visit to the park. General Admission tickets for Shanghai Disneyland will not be accepted. Not sure how they're handling tickets if they were dated for a previous closure date and not a GA ticket.

Does anyone know if the cancellation and payment policy for trips through June has been extended?? We are currently booked starting June 19th, and I'm holding on to that in the unlikely, but hopeful, event that we can go. But part of me wants to go ahead and book a backup for late July. My daughter's birthday is the 21st, so sometime that week. For the dates I want, we'd book FP on May 20th. Is there any risk/issues with me going ahead and booking July and then cancelling it if June does happen??

You can already see the wheels in motion that football is starting on time, no ifs ands or buts. Owners coming out saying they expect fans in the seats in week 1.Every other sport is struggling (other than golf) to convince their players on a plan. The NFL doesn’t seem like they’re going to take “no” for an answer

Links? Because I haven't seen any such thing. They even have a plan to delay the start of the season.

I am wondering if there will be a failure to comply tally system for guests that don't adhere to WDW's guidelines (maybe there already is one is DLS)? I do not know how it could be implemented, but my concern as a guest would be those other guests that may repeatedly violate the safety measures.

My thots from the get-go were that WDW would open MK after 4th of July. It’s crowded then but has always struck me as more pockets of people congregated in specific areas. Opposite of Thanksgiving crowds where it busy everywhere.

IMO If the first MNSSHP is to happen, they need to be open at least 3 - 4 weeks prior to see if opening causes hotspots in transmission I’ve thought on this at length as we are supposed to be arriving on 8/7.

Likely, many others are also watching carefully, and will hurriedly reschedule cancelled travel to try to work in a trip before fall sessions of school resume once they see how the first wave of visitors fare.

Haven’t given up even though cancelled DVC reservation & banked my points. Rebooked a value room only thru CRO as a placeholder reservation, but also will book a cancellable reservation at Myrtle Beach the same week, where we could drive if necessary.

I agree with your thoughts based on historical attendance in the parks. But, I keep questioning if the Fourth of July and Thanksgiving will actually be busy this year. We are coming to the realization that our June trip more than likely won't pan out (but we're still hoping), and I've actually considered Thanksgiving this year due to the fact that crowds will probably be minimal compared to prior years. And with the kids missing so much school this year, I am hesitant to take them out next year. I don't know - I'm kind of just thinking out loud here.

I do wonder how they are handling those that may have held GA tickets. I suppose then it may not really be a comparable model for DL, and of course WDW is a whole unique one with the various parks. I hope for word soon from the parks, just like many of us on here, on how ticketing will look during the different phases for the US based parks. For me in particular, awaiting on WDW, as I had purchased park hopper tickets earlier in the year hoping to use.

Am I the only person who finds is weird to mark the places they shouldn't stand in the queues?

To me it makes more sense to mark where you should stand (similar to how they mark spots in the queue loading area of some rides)
I think this is a cultural thing. In one of the videos I saw they said when testing things at Shanghai they found it worked better there to mark where guests shouldn’t stand vs. where they should.

Not sure if the security check lineup winds around or if it’s separate lines. They have the one meter distance within each, but then it is right next to to another lineup, so people would be standing next to another group, but further apart from those in front or behind them. At least that’s how it looks to me. That doesn’t make sense.

Same here. If my son misses his birthday at Disney in July, he is going to get Halloween instead. I normally wouldn’t pull him out of school, but after all of this......life is too short and we need a slower pace ❤

I also stopped caring about my kid missing school. We pulled her out in kindergarten, 2nd grade and 3rd grade. I was going to stop doing it but I really don't care now. She's proven she can handle getting her work done on her own with all this distance learning. She will be in 6th if we need to pull her out again. It's not the end of the world.

I agree - definitely throwing me .... and then in another video they show that they have yellow boxes taped on the ground for watching shows and the guests are to stand inside the boxes - so some times it means "don't stand here" and sometimes it means "stand here" - so not confusing at all :D

I was reading a few of you cancelled your June trips. I keep debating cancelling my 6/21 reservation and re-booking for mid July. I am just worried it might be too hot for me being pregnant...not like June isn't hot lol. I'm really trying to wait it out and see if it gets cancelled, but I also want to have a back up trip elsewhere if it doesn't open. We haven't been since November I'm dying to get back, we wouldn't be able to go until February due to baby. I would even be fine going without the parks open and doing DS and resort. However, I don't think it would even be worth it financially to them to open resorts without the parks. I also did not get a survey! It's funny it's like they know those of us holding on to our reservations and are ready to go aren't getting surveys.

If you are able to rebook for mid July, I think that's a good idea. Do realize that even mid July could be out. I had initially booked for late June but moved it to late July back in late April (and I have a back up for late August), and it made me feel much better to give myself that extra cushion even though nothing is certain to be open. I am holding off on booking any flights until I know more because I don't want to deal with only being able to reschedule once and/or the airlines drastically changing my flight time.

Thanks for posting that. Was an interesting read. I wonder if more people would use the hand sanitizers in the US.
Personally I'm using sanitizer a lot more so I'm inclined towards yes... I never used to use companies sanitizers or worry about wiping down a grocery cart and now I'm like "oh! sanitizer!" It feels like when you're a kid and the bank teller offers you something out of the candy bowl :rotfl2:

I wonder if the plastic would disintegrate quickly if people were standing on it all day. Maybe that’s why those say DON’T stand here.

It's all wait and see at this point.
They aren't cancelling June trips yet, and haven't said IF they will be open in June yet.

I don't see any harm in booking another trip, I would assume, no matter what they decide, Disney's cancellation policy will be pretty relaxed for trips in June.

US is likely to ignore them no matter which way you do it.
I agree with you, partially because I think a lot of people just don't care, but also because it's just hard to remember. I know for myself even at the grocery store I sometimes forget about the one way aisles and where to stand for the check outs. I feel like at WDW it will be so easy to get caught up in the excitement of a moment and forget about social distancing.

Nice find!
  • temperature tent makes a lot more logistical sense than one person at a time with a infrared temp gun
  • "entering at the time allocated to us" prevent rope-drop insanity
  • regular park security "here our bags were checked" OY! Are they still cheeping out on checking bags by hand?! I have no idea what bag check involves in Shanghai, anyone else know...?
  • I like the idea of character shows if meet and greats are out, would play better to US audiences than to Shanghai's so I know while we shouldn't read into it I'd personally love to see that
  • The attendance limit could have been as low as 400 people- yikes. That opening didn't math out if the blogger is right...?

None. I have several just in case reservations now. All it costs are the deposits until you cancel.

I`m so envy the US cancellation policy. Here in the UK we can`t cancel without loosing our deposit (£50/person) at all. AND! Full payment is due 56 days in advance. That`s booking directly with Disney.

And usually we go for 2-3 weeks (I think no one goes from UK for a couple of days only) playing with dates is just not an option for us. Our holiday days are requested well in advance, flight tickets booked well in advance (which is quite expensive anyway)...

I could swallow loosing the deposit and cancel our holiday 57 days in advance that`s one thing. But how on earth would I be making a decision 56 days in advance when no one knows what will happen in 56 minutes?!

For now we can`t even enter the US from UK...

I`m just sitting here hoping for the best and going crazy :)
