Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

Yes. I’ve never had that issue (always been sold out for me) and they still have 4 non stops on 7/7 (I can do first flight out on the 7th, but wouldn’t arrive to Pop until probably 7p). Jet Blue, United, and Delta still have non stops on 7/6. I get free baggage on AA, otherwise I would just fly on another airline. Getting more and more worried WDW won’t even be open, though.
My problem (right now anyway) is my Aulani trip-- Southwest somehow merged multiple nonstop flights into one 2 layover flight, and got rid of the only one that left late enough for me to make my own connection. To go I now have to double layover one way, and on both ways spend a night in Oakland. :headache:

I wonder if they’re thinking they can’t open in June, or if they already reached capacity and are only taking reservations into July. There was quite a bit of availability last time I looked for June so I don’t think it’s the capacity. Patiently waiting like many of you to see if my June 21st res is cancelled 😔.
Maybe they aren’t sure about quarantines and flight restrictions being lifted either by feds or florida

I noticed this too. Just get the dang x-ray scanners like Universal, or at the very least, the CMs need to be spraying a hand sanitizer on their gloves between guests' bags.

It’s because Universals X-ray machines look industrial while Disney has more of a personal feeling to it. I’d prefer the x-ray machines, but they just have a look that I dont think Disney wants. But with the checks at the TTC and the resorts instead of right in front of MK’s gates, it wouldnt kill any “magic”.

At this point, rates for Thanksgiving aren’t low IMHO. I have two reservations right now for a party of 3 adults and 2 teens. A room at the Dolphin that sleeps five and 2 rooms at ASMO. Both reservations are about $350 per night when you factor in fees, etc. So many possibilities of changes has me holding onto both reservations until I know more. The rates are what I would expect for Thanksgiving, but only time will tell whether the available amenities and park experiences justify the normal Thanksgiving rates.
Well, I would get a value to hold a spot so I can make all my ADRs at one time at 180, and if we have to move our coming July trip we’ll switch that to Poly (what we have booked for July). Those rates are still cheaper than what we’re paying for our Christmas week trip, I’m not too worried about it. I am hopeful that things won’t be as modified by then as we might see them this summer, but who knows.

It's funny. I always HATE security check at Disney, and always get a kick out of it at Universal, where security personnel just seem happier. I feel like I am under arrest at Disney!

I make ADRs when we stay off site at 180 days. You don’t need a room reservation to make them. :)

I’m 100% convinced that I get picked by Disney security to go through the X-Ray because I have a long beard. I don’t remember the last time I wasn’t “randomly” chosen to go through at any of the WDW parks

So how much control does Disney have over the Disney Springs TS restaurants? If ability to make ADRs has been frozen because of planned distancing in the resort/park restaurants, wouldn’t it apply to those too and we would have seen ADRs in general turn off? And further, it seems like they would also be turning off ADRs past June 30 if this was the reason, as if they are putting some sort of measures in at TS restaurants they’re not going to be lifted in a month. But then again it’s odd they turned off booking for I believe everything but FP for the month of June. That last point combined with everything else we know (and those survey options) is a decent argument for parks but no resorts IMO. I know we talked about the benefits of opening that way in one of these threads at some point.

Thinking out loud here, feel free to ignore lol.

I’m guessing the cm survey was questioning if park retail or food service senior DMs were willing to move to DS. It would be unfair if DS junior CMs got to start working a month before park Senior CMs.

Most of the restaurants in DS are not owned by Disney, therefore I think they set their own opening schedules and would come up with their own safety plans.

At least some of those restaurants take their own reservations outside the Disney system via sites like Open Table. For instance I remember looking for a Wine Bar George reservation and Disney only had like 1 option while on OpenTable they had lots of options. Disney is the landlord, the restaurants are tenants. They sometimes have reservations through Disney and integrated payment systems (like MagicBands or Disney gift cards) but ultimately Disney Springs is a landlord-tenant situation.

Speaking of flights, Westjet (one of two Canadian major airlines) has cut all of their flights to and from Orlando until July. Air Canada has now modified their schedule as well so they are only flying to and from Toronto - Orlando (and probably other major Canadian cities too) two or three times a week until the first week of July. Maybe they also saw the writing on the wall for the central Florida area, I don’t know.

Could also be the uncertainty around when the US-Canada border will open for non-essential travel.
