Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

No one wins in the masks debate I have found. My family is not going in July if they are required, but I'm thinking about the other modified experiences such as rides and character meets if masks are optional. In MK and the other parks, will they close 1 or 2 attractions per land daily to appear more full, hire less CM and sanitize, seating etc. too close? Will meet and greet with characters be eliminated meaning my 5yr old daughter will not meet her favorite princesses she's been waiting more than a year for? Disney has been hit hard financially and I'm sure will try to pinch every penny while trying to get every cent from me. In a usual circumstance for my family it's "take my money!", but the note yesterday about attractions and other things possibly being closed (even though it's always been a possibility) has me thinking about what the experience would be like.
I hear your concern, but Disney can't compromise their brand right now by appearing to be so profit-focused-- it is literally all they have holding up their share prices.

Heard Disney is sending out random surveys for families booked between June and November. The survey asks how they would feel with certain restrictions in place, which attractions they wouldn’t be ok with being closed and if they would keep their reservation if they were asked to move to a different resort. Has anyone heard about this?

It’s being heavily discussed in this thread. :confused3

We have cancelled our family July trip . No way would any of us wear a mask all day and night for a week. I just wonder how many people say they don't have a problem wearing a mask have actually done it for 8 or 9 hours straight. That is a lot different than wearing one for 30 minutes in a store. And yes I have worn a mask one time inside for 30 minutes and will never do it again. I think after a week of Disney Springs being open with a mask requirement Disney will see it will not work in the parks. We will just wait till common sense makes a comeback.
I’m one of those people that has had to wear a mask for 8-10 hour shifts at work for the last almost two months and I’m still willing to wear a mask at WDW if it means I can go to WDW soon-ish. But I totally understand why wearing a mask all day would be a deal breaker for many people. The first week of wearing a mask was rough, but now I’m used to it and have found the style mask that is most comfortable for me.

For sure a very real and personal decision. I don’t know myself and we have a trip in August. I wear one now whenever I have contact with others (drive thru at the bank, grocery store) because it’s basic human decency during a pandemic. Anyone who doesn’t want to go (if wdw mandates masks) is completely just. It’s the people who don’t want to wear one who are trying to find ways around it and still go that bother me.

I hope you're right and that's why we've kept our reservations for July as of now. It seems like that survey is showing there may be near term profit-focused changes though. A reason so many are willing to pay thousands is for their 'superior' brand and attention to detail over other parks.

Agreed. Disney is likeky to open while some things are still closed or heavily modified like sports. They have to look like they are taking all precautions and trying to be safe and not look like it’s profit over health. They are one I think will strike the right balance.

I wonder if that survey is going to backfire and they’re just going to freak people out?

I’ve gotten one passholder email, ever.

The joys of being an international passholder. All that money and they can’t spring for a stamp to send us magnets or even bother making sure we get emails. Apparently the email thing is common amongst international APs.

The email thing is just common in general. My husband, daughter, and I were passholders and NEVER got emails and a friend of mine has been a passholder or years and years and just stopped getting them all of a sudden about two years ago and we all live in Florida. I contacted passholder support about it numerous times and was told it would be fixed for us but it never was.

We are in the states and we don't seem to get mail or emails either. One of the CMs had me check the settings on all of our accounts, there are four of us, and we are set to get stuff. Who knows!

Disney has not said that masks will be mandatory, so i hope you had other reasons for canceling. Of course it's your choice either way.
Yes mask are only one reason for cancelling this trip. This will be first time for my grand kids and probably last whole family trip so if there is a chance not all parks or attractions will be open plus no fireworks or parades it would not be worth it for the money I am spending.

I received AP emails for about six months my first year (five years ago) and then crickets chirped from then on.

The site that must not be named just tweeted that WDW is taking reservations starting July 1.
Ok, so what about all those reservations they've been taking starting June 1st? That's what the WDW banner verbiage still says. Did the site that must not be named miss that, or do you think they are letting some Acromantula out of the bag?
