Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

I think they need to treat the hand sanitizer use like DCL does. They need to have a CM out in front of restaurants and rides forcing people to sanitize their hands before they enter. That would go a long way by itself.

Agree. They should have bottles in every hotel room, too. One per guest. It would seriously help.

I would love for you to explain why you think all healthy adults will be fine in masks in high heat. What about those with sensory conditions? Some people are also percectly healthy yet have temperature regulation issues. Some people are perfectly healthy but still take daily medications worsened by heat. Love to hear your answer.
If CM’s are required to wear them for their entire 8 hour shift when many many positions have them outside, then it should at least be strongly recommended for guests in the beginning.

And how is Disney going to enforce those who do have medical issues to wear them vs people lying?
And yes, obviously not all people with autism are the same. I'm a teacher with 3 students on the spectrum in my class alone this year. It is a broad statement, but sensory issues have been proving a real problem for many.

The same way they enforce the DAS. At some point you have to work on good faith.

I thought my opinion on that matter was pretty clear, but thanks for the witty reply. I'm trying to explain why there isn't a provision for forcing guests to wear masks.

For what it's worth, I don't think they will either. But it does look bad making CM's, especially the ones outside wear masks, and not guests. They may very well make it mandatory for a bit.

Some crude math here and if I'm wrong please correct me, math is not my strongest suit
On average MK hits around 60K, that's just an average day

MK capacity is about 100k half is 50k

Epcot around 95K half is 47k

DHS around 75K half is around 37K

AK around 70K half is around 35K

that would be a total for the 4 parks at 170k people aprox if divided evenly between 4 parks that's 42.500 per park

Disney has 30k rooms, lets say average per room is 3 people that's 90k people.

Lets say only half of those rooms are occupied, that would be 45k people

So capacity at 50% is a total of 170k for the 4 parks with 45k staying on site
The big variable would be aps but I doubt there would be that many going in the first weeks to make a dent in the numbers
Another variable is IF they will open all 4 parks. If only 2 open, lets say MK and AK that would be capacity of 85k

That seems to follow what I'm seeing from other places. Most of the states guidelines for reopening restaurants require staff to wear masks but not guests.

I agree the heat stroke argument is overblown. I think the real issue is that there is a large contingent of guests who wouldn't visit the parks if they were forced to wear a mask the whole time. I'm in that group. I wear glasses and it would drive me nuts to have them constantly fogging up due to a mask. It's one thing to wear a mask on a short trip to a store. It's another to wear it for 8 hours straight in a theme park.

Well thats the exact point. They need to be leveling off who can actually come in the park. Now isn't the time to be going to the theme parks when they open up, esp if its not going to be the same experience we all know and love. If someone can't handle a mask, then they shouldn't come at all, period. Disney will be here, and it won't be like this forever. There is no rush to get people back in the park.

So wearing masks, is very helpful and is a good first step to opening, until the time comes when some sort of normalcy can return to the park. All the sanitizer in the world and temp checks can't help avoiding asymptomatic people getting someone sick.

Do normal masks reduce the risk of it spreading, yes. Even if its a moderate to small chance, its better than nothing.. Just for a few weeks to months to see how the spread is affected

I just think until the daily infection rate is DRAMATICALLY low, we should take all these steps

I keep trying to remind people: Christmas day is full capacity, 50% is about normal Disney crowd level (at least in times like early May). It's not really that empty, it won't accommodate tons of people flocking once they open, but they shouldn't be turning away mass amounts of people. And if it gets to 75% capacity I'm sure I won't want to be there anyway lol

yeah, 50% of Christmas Day is not really "social distancing" figures to me ... guess we shall see, but I think they would want to start with like 50% of a normal day, which might be 25% of Christmas Day. But guess we shall see

I thought I saw something last week saying MK was the only WDW park that will be open initially?

I hope they socially distance the amount of people in the bathrooms at restaurants lol and parks

How the heck are they gonna handle that one. Those stalls aren't 6' apart
Its gonna be a huge number of extra CMs needed for all bathrooms and all store entrances etc.

Presumably that's why it's not even suggested on the guidelines currently...

I watched the livestream of the last night at Magic Kingdom and couldn't believe it - the place was PACKED. I was thinking "What the heck? They're closing WDW because of a HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS VIRUS, PEOPLE!" That place should have been EMPTY, instead people jammed into the place like there was nothing going on at all. I wonder how many COVID cases came out of that alone? Far too many!
Very few people at that time were taking COVID seriously. Those were the days the majority of people here on the DIS thought it was unthinkable US parks would close. Times change :confused3
