Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

You would still get crowds in the main viewing areas. If capacity is limited means the money coming in is lower then normal. Getting rid of fireworks lowers costs.
True as well, nighttime shows are very expensive

Yeah. I get it. It does reduce droplets. Daughter is an RN and they wear surgical masks unless treating a known COVID-19 patient, then mandatory protocol is N-95. I suppose some folks will be okay being somewhat protected. Like everyone has said, its a comfort level thing. I'm not wearing a mask at the grocery store once a week but I have only 4 confirmed in my county. I've worn N-95 for years woodworking and am amazed how much fine particulate still gets in and what I'm blowing out my nose end of the day with a commercial cyclone duct collector running. It's the leaking that's the issue. Clamp those suckers down tight :) I'm a little more concerned with what's floating around suspended then getting a heavy droplet in the mouth.
Regardless of all of these finer points....
Like I have posted earlier, the experiences will be so heavily modified I don't know if I'll recognize the place with what it takes to implement the social distancing required (I live in GA and we'll see how that goes). It will be interesting what the company has to do to make Parks viable. Representing a third of their revenue, they will have to paddle fast to keep the entire company viable. I don't live far from north Florida and I may just explore what it has to offer for a while...Go on a real "jungle boat" paddle in a canoe on one of those beautiful tropical rivers, check out actual Pirate castles and history and maybe just go fishing. I may just hold out till the Disney I remember is something close to the new reality. I sure hope so. It's one of my favorite places on Earth and the only place I have been able to go to and really "feel" like I'm on vacation.

Man alive, can't some of you keep it about the topic and stop armchair psychoanalyzing others?

Disney IS one of my coping mechanisms for reasons that are no one else's business.

And one of the wisest pieces of advice I ever received was not to judge other peoples' coping mechanisms.

The superiority vibes here are just ridiculous. And rooted in your own need to feel better about yourselves rather than any supposed caring for your fellow humans who are quite frankly dealing with having their lives turned upside down.

Sheesh.

I'm seeing denial and anger here. As for caring, the most caring persons are the ones who tell you what you need to hear - not what you want to hear.

I was kind of thinking that the cost savings was the driving force, LOL! I remember the crowds pre-projections shows, and agree that crowds were certainly the norm, but I also remember areas behind the castle which were almost empty. I think that they could spread out crowds if they wanted to....I'm just not sure that they're motivated.

If they eliminated the projection part of the fireworks shows wouldn't people be able to spread out enough to satisfy social distancing requirements? I get the parades, but the fireworks, not so much.

It would be more so of a budget cut thing right now.

I think it gets canned. People screaming indoors is an easy way to spread the virus.
They can regulate how many people are let in each house. The event would be even better. I hate it when they jam everyone in at the same time....spoils the scares.

You want a house with no scare-actors? Cause that's how it would have to be.

I can't see spending $$$ to go for limited experience. We've all been at parks when multiple people are spreading multiple illnesses. Humans have been around for a long time because we have strong immune systems. I think we can move on with our lives once we realize that there are treatments that will come out for COVID and we can all get on with life.

When we do get a proven treatment I think it will help a lot. Right now we just have several with promose but no completed proper clinical trials to show if they actually work or not. A lot will change when we have an actual treatment we know works for most people.

Update April 18:
1. All guests undergo a rapid COVID test (with results in 15 minutes). Only those who are negative will be allowed entry into the park

Maybe I am not following or I don't know enough to understand, but if all the people entering the park (including cast members) are testing negative, why do we need all the other restrictions?

I just can’t see the parks being even appealing to go to until after the phase when face masks are mandatory. Maybe if I lived in Orlando, I’d be ok with that just to go and support the parks. But I’d be hard pressed to spend the money for a dream vacation just to sweat behind an uncomfortable mask the whole time. No matter how cute Disney might try to merchandise them, I can’t imagine many people want a family photo in front of the castle where you can’t see anyone’s face.

I know this could definitely happen and would be a way for them to thin the crowd quite a bit, but being denied entry would feel like a real slap in the face to anyone who planned a year plus out and paid out the money to stay onsite and still wanted to go.
There isn’t much of a choice. There will have to be limits at first. Anyone planning a year out is having issues. What about all the people who were to go in March-May who don’t get too?

Something that just popped into my head and, hey, I've heard crazier but
What if
Let's say the first couple of days, maybe even a weeks worth WDW decides to invite, for free, CM and their families to experience "some magic"
CM would have to sign up on the HUB, giving Disney complete control over amount of people, working cast can implement and practice whatever new measures will be in place.
Obviously Disney will lose money doing but it would give the world an idea of what they are doing as cm and families will be able to take pics/ record/ live stream. It will give working cm the opportunity to practice, and cm families would have agreed to go in and be "guinea pigs" so no potential of backfire

Just spitballing here
