Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

Let's say virus is on the bottom of the cup and remains on the plastic of the machine. And then it transfers to the bottom of someone else's cup. It's still not inside the machine itself or inside your cup. There is no difference between that and putting your cup down anywhere someone else might put their cup down. Hand sanitizer should be by the machine as it should be everywhere.
I understand this, however that doesn't really make a difference in that you are transferring it via something that you drink out of to things other people drink out of. The whole point of removing things like that is to limit even the small possibility of transfer if you can. Anything we can do to prevent it should be done, especially in regards to food/beverages.

EDIT: also you often touch the sides/bottom of your cup, or place it somewhere in your room that you then place your phone on. There are so many potential issues with it that I don't see disney allowing guests to fill their own cups anytime soon.

That's interesting though, the water bottle refill stations in the park (not that there are that many) would require less cast interaction than asking someone for a cup of water at a quick service counter. Also, those water bottle fillers are more sanitary than people using water fountains to fill bottles, think about all those kids who pout their mouths on the water fountains. I wonder if more of those bottle fillers will appear or less. This is similar to the refillable mug issue, to me. Interested to see what angle Disney takes.
I agree and I think there are important issues. And while everyone on here knows I support masks, I am not indifferent to the idea of overheating in a mask. Disney cannot make it more difficult to get water or require people to wait in long lines to get water.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see more workplaces adopt those kind of quarantine policies as things open back up even if governments are not, especially in areas that have not been hit as hard. Nobody wants a huge chunk of their staff to get sick at once and/or potentially have to temporarily shut down.

In Canada the border is closed so it's not a big deal right now. We are screened when we start and one of the questions is about leaving the country. If we leave the country we are required to quarantine for 14 days.

Complete removal of every surface that people might touch is unrealistic. So the only way to give yourself and your family the leg up is by washing your hands and not touching your face

Well my job just took the fun out of hoping Disney opens by my vacation. New policy is that if we travel out of state AT ALL, ANYWHERE, we have to self quarantine for 2 weeks, using our own time. They will reevaluate in 30 days so I will find out June 19th if I can go to WDW on the 26th (if they are open!). Worse part is that I was supposed to go see my son in Mississippi this weekend. He is military and usually in California but out here training for a few weeks. I haven't seen him in a year and he was so excited to have us come visit him. We are not in a hot spot (Arkansas) and neither is Mississippi so I wasn't worried about visiting him (plus he had to self quarantine when he got there for 2 weeks so he is good). :(
Is that even legal?

Sure, and removing high risk areas, like personal drink filling stations. I mean, it's literally a container you put your mouth on repeatedly, so of any things in the parks to be very careful to not contaminate, that seems like one of the major ones.

They don't necessarily have to deactivate the ice machines.

Alot of the places around here that have self-serve soda/ice machines just said that you can not reuse a cup or a personal cup/mug. You must get a new cup each time.
While yes I know that still means people will touch the dispenser buttons for soda, no one should be touching the ice part because you press the new cup against the lever that dispenses the ice.
Most of the resort refillable mug stations don't touch a dispenser for ice. You set it down, push a button and the ice falls in.

Unless they refuse to let them bring any cups into the parks at all, the same problem exists. And they will get into big trouble making it difficult for people to rehydrate. Viral transfer from one surface to another is not really a big deal if people are preventing virus from getting from the surface to inside their body. The way to do that is to wash your hands.

It's odd they are just now implementing this, months later. My DH's workplace has had this in place since mid-March and just dropped them as of today. Employees are free to vacation domestically wherever they'd like, with no restrictions upon returning.

Only that drinking stations, as in machines and water fountains are absolutely needed.

True, but I see a guest refilling station as a much more complicated system they're going to have to figure out. It's one of the highest potential cross contamination points, and allowing guests to use the same spigot without any middle ground or specific cleaning before/after seems like a recipe for disaster. I dont doubt they'll have other solutions figured out, but I just dont see guests filling their own cups unsupervised (at least) is going to happen any time soon.

edit: this point has been missed a few times I think but my concern isnt the persons hands, its the persons cup that they then drink out of. If they don't clean the cup after they fill it from a filling station after someone else has just used it directly (the sides and bottom of their cup hitting the station), your hands being clean doesn't really help you.

That’s absurd. I sense a lot of people traveling “in state” at your company in the near future.

I don't think you understand how the resort refilling stations work. There is almost zero chance of cross-contamination, and that drops even further if you wash your hands and wipe the bottom of your cup (the only part of the cup that touches anything while refilling).

Ditto here. It’s been the “until further notice” from my job since mid-February...
