Rumor: 20 Month Refurb at BCV?

Doesn't say if the villas are included or the refurb is just the resort, but I have seen plenty of comments from BCV owners that a refurb is needed. It may be on it's way!

DVC announced at the last annual condo meeting that a BCV hard goods refurbishment is in the planning stage:
Additionally, Disney’s Beach Club Villas and Disney’s BoardWalk Villas are in the planning stage for a hard goods refurbishment. Details will be provided at a future date.

I'm getting impatient about this supposed BCV refurbishment. Does anyone know if the large mismatched carpet squares are still there? When we were there in 2013, there were various mismatched carpet squares around the resort. When I asked the front desk CM about it, she said that it was for them to assess carpet wear of various samples and get guests' comments. She assured me that by January or February of 2014, one would be chosen and the refurbishment would begin. Well, that would have been 8 months ago. I'm still waiting! Along those lines, has anyone encountered the different squares of carpeting? I'll post a photo later.

I was just there a few weeks ago, and the mismatched carpet squares are still there. The only "hard good" that I thought needed to be replaced was the mattress. It was beyond ridiculous hard and my hips would hurt when I woke up in the morning. I finally took the the mattress off of the sleeper sofa and put it on top on the bed's mattress, and that seemed to help. It was ridiculous that I had to resort to that, though. I went to the front desk to ask if they had an egg crate mattress or could possibly get us a new mattress, and I was told no. (Yeah, I knew it was a stretch to ask for a new mattress, but I thought I would give it a shot.)

I stayed at BCV last year and I did not remember the mattress being that hard.

According to this it's about to happen.

It's about time. There is also a rumor that they will be converting some of the BC to DVC. This would fit in with the prolonged timeline. SSR is huge compared to all of BC and the villas and it didn't take half that time to do a soft refurb on the whole resort.

What really upsets me is the prospect of having the whole resort be a construction zone much like the Poly. Honestly I can't imagine what they could be doing to the grounds to make it be like the Poly.

Well whatever it is, it needs it. We stayed in a 1bdr in May and loved the resort but the room needed TLC. There were a few corridors that had had mock up areas so i am curious to see which way they go!

We are checking into BCV for 7 nights the Saturday after Thanksgiving.....I hope things aren't too torn up by then.

We were going to book BCV for Dec 2015 but may be rethinking that decision.

At any rate looking forward to whatever it is they will be doing. :thumbsup2

I think they will be doing corridors as well. As I mentioned they had some mocked up in May. New carpet, lighting, wall covering, paint. Rooms will get new furniture and paint, similar to what was just done at WLV.

Got home-here's the photo-

Notice that the walls in the area were painted a different color (yellow) and the lower hallway nearby is beige, not the same color as the area just up the hall from it. The patchwork nature of the carpet and walls (I'd forgotten about the walls) really made it looked like a home improvement store.
