I have questions about the dining at the Mexico pavillion. (it's been a few years since we ate there.)

Can you get take-out from there? Or just dine-in only?

If take-out is available - where do you place your order? (I totally can't remember--I'm assuming inside?? )

Are advance reservations required for dine-in?

We have 3 kids (11,13,15) and I am trying to pick several restaurants for our trip - but don't really want to be tied down to reservation times.

Can anyone recommend any other restaurants (not the fast-food joints) where you can also order take out?

San Angel Inn is inside and I'm pretty sure there's no "take-out", however there is a CS retsuarant outside called Cantina de San Angel.
ADR's are pretty much a requirement if you want to eat at San Angel Inn, everytime we've eaten there we've seen people with no reservations be completely turned away.

The San Angel Inn (TS) is inside the pyramid. The Cantina de San Angel (CS) is across the way from the pyramid. I ate at the San Angel Inn, and while the food was good, the service was sub-par. I've seen pics on the disboards of food from the counter service and it honestly looked better than the food from San Angel Inn! The sit down restaurant has a lot of classic Mexican dishes (dbf had a chicken and pasta dish in a cheese sauce) while, from what I've seen, the counter service seemed more of a taco-quesadilla-burrito kind of deal. And the portions looked HUGE. So I guess it just depends on what you're interested in. Also keep in mind that the sit down restaurant is rather pricey and ADRs are definitely necessary.

If your family likes fish and chips, there's a take out window for them next to the Rose and Crown Pub in the England pavilion. And they're goooood
