I just want to make sure I have this correct...

I have a Feb Use year... Sept was my banking deadline and I banked all my leftover points... Now if I wanted to book a trip for say November... I would not be able to borrow from 2010 and travel because it would fall within the four months that you could not book and travel??....

....and If I wanted to travel the only way I could is if I was to have another member make a reservation for me with a non-Feb use year and transfer my 2010 points to them ??

Thanks... just trying to master my DVC knowledge.... ;)

My understanding is that the "rule of four" only applies to disney collection (but not DL resorts) and concierge collection. And the rule doesn't have anything to do with borrowing or banking, I don't think. You can't make a reservation and travel on those two collections in the last 4 mos. of your use year, whether you're using borrowed points, banked points, or regular year points.

Is that what you want to book, or were you wanting to book into a DVC resort? If the later, I think so long as you can get a reservation. You'd just borrow your 2010 points to make the reservation happen.

Oh I am soooo confused... LOL

It is a DVC ressie I was thinking of... So I can borrow 2010 and book and travel next month if I desired ??? and availability is good?? I thought the guide said no book & travel the last four, but I hope you are correct cuz I am thinking of another quick trip......:confused3

Yes, that is my understanding. Excluded from the "rule of 4" are: (1) DVC resorts, and (2) disneyland resorts as part of the disney collection. All other components of the disney collection, though, are subject to the rule: so, non-DVC WDW resorts, disneyland paris, DCL, disneyland Hong Kong and disneyland Tokyo.

You will have to borrow in order to take a November WDW DVC resort vacation if you can find accommodations. The rule of four does not apply.

The "rule of four" only applies to non-DVC reservations. You are fine to reserve and travel to a DVC resort during the last 4 months of your Use Year - using banked, current or borrowed points.

Enjoy! :)

Assuming that you only want to stay at a DVC Resort -

If you banked your 2009 points, then you cannot use those banked points for a vacation which will fall between the day you banked them and February 1, 2010.

If you want to travel in November 2009, you can borrow from your 2010 points. (You just can't borrow the 2009 points that you banked.)

Of course, there's no guarantee that the DVC resort you want has the room size you want for the dates you want in November.

There are completely different rules for non-DVC resorts.
