I've had a lot of comments that could be taken as rude when some people find out that I have twins. "Better you than me" "Double Trouble"...
But, yesterday at the doctor's office really took the cake. I was talking to another mom who had an adorable baby on her lap. She was saying that she had three children and this one was her most challenging. We were basicly making funny faces at the baby and commiserating a little about how much we love our children but how much work they were.
She asked how many children I had and I told her two. DS, who was with me and his twin DD who was at school. This upper middle age man who wasn't even part of the conversation spoke up and said "Twins?!, I would slit my wrists!"
I didn't even know what to say. I think I was stunned. Not only did he say something incredibly rude, he said it in front of DS! We were called in to the office almost immediately after that. I so wish I had thought of something to say to that man.

(I think she was trying to ask if they were adopted) my comeback was "I have no clue who their fathers are" The look on her face was priceless!
and let it roll right off my back. This bothered me a little more because, I wasn't even talking to this guy, and DS heard what he said. DS has a disability, part of which is that he doesn't understand sarcasm or figures of speech. He couldn't understand what was so bad about being a twin. I think his feelings were hurt even after I tried to explain it to him. And we all know how we moms are when our kids feelings get hurt (or at least how I am).
