I remember going to a Disney resort restaurant for dinner and being snapped at by the waiter becaues he wasn't the one who take the order but drinks. How do you handle that kind of situation?

If they were rude in how they responded to me I would simply ask to speak to the manager at that time. I can understand if their response would have been a polite, "I'm sorry I'm not the one who could handle that for you, but let me get someone right over who can." A rude or snarly response would prompt me to ask for the manager at that point.

I've never encountered anything like you described. There isn't usually a separate "drink" person.

I've had this happen, sometimes when the server is busy, someone will stop by to do the drinks to give the regular server a few minutes to make their way over. I don't think they're a "drink" person, but probably a busser or something like that, stepping in as needed.

No reason for a table to get snapped at for not knowing this, but I generally just try to ignore that sort of thing.

Having worked food service management in the past, a quick word to the manager would be sufficient. If they were that way with you, then you can bet they were that way to someone else. Additionally, it often hurts the server for that table because the animosity created carries over. When it is busy and people are "in the weeds", a quick word can also get that person some help. Every restaurant I have ever worked in, it isn't the sole responsibility of the server to care for their tables. Everyone is responsible and should help each other out.

I never had a *drink Person*.............thinking this may not have been at WDW.

We have never had a rude waiter or CM in all our many trips.:)

Now guests being rude.....that is another story!!!:sad2:

There is a drink person at Via Napoli that handles just the water and that really confused us. I asked for a refill of sprite and he refilled it with water, it was just so confusing. But some restaurants in Disney have people that just handle the drinks- weird!

I will of course take your word for it..:).........weird is right! We have never seen it ourselves and to snap fingers is weird and odd as well! Why would any wait person do that, it could only reduce their tips.

I don't think the OP meant that the waiter snapped their fingers. "Snapping" at someone is an expression that generally means speaking sharpy and rudely.

To answer, I probably wouldn't bother to report someone who did this - I can see why someone would, but I would chalk it up to the server having a bad day and let it go. I might mention something to our actual server at the end of the meal, just so they are aware. We ate at a couple of places in WDW where servers other than our "official" server brought the drinks, and even delivered the entrees.

I always say to my server ( if you are ready, I am ready to give you my order)..Most of the time its the way you talk to them..because they may have a table that was sat before you that needed a minute so they just wanted to take your drink order, get your drinks, take their order put it in and then get your order and put it in..If that all makes sense..:)

3 of us go to Be Our Guest. Order 2 beers and 1 soda. Nephew doesn't like the taste of his beer and drinks his water and some of my son's soda. Waiter comes over sees nephew drinking soda and looks angry. Soon after waiter brings another soda without asking if he wanted a refill. Because of the chip on his shoulder, I decided to check to see if he charged me for 2 sodas instead of 1. He sure did. OK whatever, it's the last day of a wonderful vacation. So I pay with my personalized ebola hidden mickey gift card and credit card. When I go to sign and get cc & gc. No gift card.
So I handled it by deducting both sodas out of tip. Don't be mad, at least I didn't deduct $6.95 that disneystore.com charged me for my personalized gc.

So did your Nephew drink the refilled soda?

Mom2of2,
My son drank half of it and there was little bit left. Sprite isn't nephews preferred soda and he didn't get a refill. I didn't complain about it there. i realize I could be wrong. I still tipped him $10.
