rude people

I had something similar happen where I could feel an ipad or phone near mny head during PTN. I conveniently put my arms up blocking their device. This was before the selfie stick ban .
I understand photos and videos are common but it should never be at the cost of others personal space. I have issues with that and am not afraid to voice it.

One time at WOC a lady was sitting on some steps and I was standing behind her for my spot. She copped an attitude that her husband would be joining her. Um..okay ? I mean I had assumed as such as she had a jacket lying beside her.
He joined beside her but she was apparently upset anyone had the nerve to stand behind her - yet not encroaching upon her space at all. I left easily two body "spots" between us to be respectful. Funniest part is she didn't even like the show after..

The worst though was this guy talking LOUDLY on his cell phone the entire show. I tried making some comments but either he didn't care or was clueless.

In all my trips there is almost always something that happens. I think it's a combination of entitlement , cultural/regional differences and some people are just idiots lol.

Sadly you will see rudeness at DL because of the sheer number of people crowded into a small space. Most of the time, just some communication will fix most issues. I know it can be hard to confront strangers, but nicely pointing out the issue has fixed 99% of problems for me.

Honestly, I think most people are just overwhelmed by everything and not paying attention. I just say nicely that they are in my space or whatever and generally they apologize and move.

I have had problems with people using my mobility devices as their personal leaning posts. I nicely ask them to stop and if that doesn't work, I roll a bit and when they start to fall, I sweetly apologize. That works for me. Most people are not mean, just really clueless.

I have found that it is better to have an awkward moment of communication than to stew in my own juices for the entire show. But I understand it can be hard to do.

...Here's one situation and still trying to figure out how should I have handled this?

...So the show starts and one of the girls sticks out her arm with her camera right directly in my face, not even a foot away, inches and I could not see the show at all. All I saw was her arm going up and then her phone...
During "The Force Awakens" sequence, draw you lightsaber and in one swift motion cut her arm off :darth:
This is acceptable behavior in the Star Wars galaxy...

OK, your picture should have come with a graphic warning... almost tossed my cookies when I saw it! :scared:
I'm not sure if you were serious, but the picture is now wrapped in a Spoiler tag. This is my first use of this feature of DISboard, and it's easy to use.

Thank you for being so considerate! Honestly? I was serious, but wasn't really expecting you to do anything about the picture because I am sure I'm in the minority here when it comes to stuff like that and it certainly illustrated your point rather... pointedly! I'm too squeamish by far, I know, so warnings are a good thing in my case! :p

LOL this reminds me of a time on BTMRR. The kids were in front of me and I took the spots behind them. You know how they have at least two trains worth of people wait? Well, my kids got in. I got in behind them and then this Japanese man SQUEEZED in with my two kids (whom are 8 and 11 so not SMALL). My daughter who was stuck in the middle next to him was like "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?????" he didn't answer just smiled. Now I am by MYSELF behind him (and my kids) ! He already pulled down the bar, my daughter was squished in the middle against my son and him... she was really mad. We can laugh about it now. I am sure he thought it was his turn to go in and didn't understand he was to go on the next train. We always laugh now and make a joke about us all sitting together in one train car, squished.

ETA: We DID tell the CM and he just kinda shrugged his shoulders... which annoyed me more than anything. LOL.

Hey guys,

I'm going to go ahead & close this thread. Feel free to start up another one, however, any posts that Sherry & I find to be disrespectful of other cultures will be deleted. There is no need to call others out.

And, though I haven't experienced this myself (maybe I speak up?), I like the idea of putting a hand in front of the camera that is invading your space, but that's just me.
