Ever since I've booked I've been hoping and praying that the exchange rate will magically improve, but in the 2 months I've been monitoring its just got worse and worse :( to the point now where I'm thinking I might as well hold off until the day I go to exchange my pennies as things can surely only get better??
Now, I'm not going to pretend to know how exchange rates are worked out but this is my plea...
PLEASE MR EURO, CAN WE HAVE A BETTER EXCHANGE RATE!!

We did the same but gave up when it hit 1.13, I doubt it's going to get better any time soon with the Portugal situation as well.

i manage to get some yesterday at 1.226 each. it was from the cheque centre, ya know those places that do pay day advances etc Theres at least of couple of them in town here. Its the best ive seen in ages

1.226 is an amazing rate! Highest high street rate I'm finding is about 1.094. I think I know where there's one of those cheque places in town so I'll go have a look tomorrow. Was that commision free?

It's probably as high as it's going to get - went I went a few years ago, it was at it's lowest, I got less than one euro to the pound! July 2009 was just over a Euro to the pound, but the meal package was brilliant value at that time so we didn't need much spending money.

When I went back in November, I managed to get a good rate of 1:15 to the pound, but I am now a shareholder so the food bill was good and I got a discount on shopping. I would possibly cry without it now! What with the high prices for Disney this year, I have decided to pull out of my August trip and stay at home this year!:sad2:

When I first started looking the rate was nearly 1.14 but I didn't have enough cash to buy. By the time I had the money the rate had gone down to under 1.11 so I have been waiting for it to go back up but it just keeps going down. :confused3

1.226 did not happen, nowhere would sell currency for less then it costs to acquire it. I'm guessing typo.

Unless its attached to some weird loan thing from the cheque place?

thats what it said on the board. dont think i have the repiect anymore sorry. but yeah that was commission free.
oh wait i got 330 euro's for £300.27 so i dont know if thats right or not. but it did say on there elecetric sign thing in there window that it was 1.226.... something.
Theres another store like that, but not sure what that was called, but i think that was something like 1.10ish??

just thinking about it, i must have got jibbed with the amount yesterday, cause 1.226 cannot for 330 euros for £300, can it?
just checked there website and it for today it says 1.090
what im thinking, is someone must have put the wrong details in, as 1.226 seems to be them to buy from you. boooo

No, its not wrong the 1.226 would be the rate they would buy Euros from you, they would have another rate 1.10ish for selling notes to you.

It might be they just have a slightly unclear sign to get people through the door.

The Post Office rates in the window for example only apply to certain larger amounts (€500 minimum etc) which again gets you in the door.

that totally sucks!! i even stood there and made sure it said 'we sell' booo lol oh well, even at 1.10 thats still alright i think, as the banks i checked, they were 1.06. Yeah not much of a difference

Sorry to OP, for getting your hopes up, but next time i would ask instore before buying. Hope you find a good rate soon x

I agree - the rate really sucks at the moment. I remember it being nearly 1.50 the first time we went :sad2: but at least it's an improvement on what Lisa_C experienced. Thank goodness my eldest has just landed herself a new job - she can buy us a couple of drinks now! :rotfl:
