rsr sucks

I do remember a time when Scream'n was down almost all day but it wasn't Disney's fault. Riders were getting stung or smacked by 100's of bees who built a hive near the top of the tallest hill.

OMG! Never heard this story! It would personally be my worst nightmare...I hate bees. I also can't believe that this was an issue that caused so many problems...nothing technical..just bees??!! Wow:eek:

I remember when DCA first opened. Scream'n broke, TOT, GRR, Soar'n and Maliboomer all broke down several times each over and over on each day we were there. A line out the door at GS for those wanting refunds etc. CM's told guests to see some shows or parade instead. It was quite some time before all the kinks were worked out.

Not true, when DCA opened TOT (tower of terror) wasn't built yet

The big reason test track breaks down is due to rain. Any water on the track and it gets shut down till its dry. This is a big issue in FL where it can easily rain once a day.

CA and RSR that is not the issue. I have heard its due to more the animatronics than the track.

I too have been told it is animatronics
my disaproval is that when it breaks down (sometimes for more than an hour) they don't give you a pass to come back this is difficult when you have a GAC and waited 3 hours to go on (with an autistic kid)

While I would have liked to see a posted presented with a little more than "it sucks," I'd be lying if I said it was worth waiting for more than a half hour. I was really underwhelmed with the ride. It has nothing to do with the breakdowns, but I consider that in the wait time anyway, and fully expected that it would break down a bunch (happened once during our 90 min wait). It's just for a big ticket thrill ride, I felt no thrills :/

Indy still breaks down multiple times per day....after how many years?
It is just the nature of the beast with these very high tech rides with so many sensors and animatronic features.
So does Splash and Space....

The more technology, the more likely a ride stoppage for a myriad of reasons.

With Indy and RSR you have individual ride vehicles that each have their own computers and moving parts let alone the more stationary portions of the ride.
With varying scenarios for each individual ride..

Much more technical than Ariel's, Haunted Mansion...etc.

It is going to happen...try to enjoy it as much as you can.;)

well Space Mountain has a timer system, guests have so much time to get in and out before the cars back up too much and the system shuts down and has to be recycled, that is the reason Space breaks down so much. According to CM's Indiana doesn't break down nearly as much as people think it does but they do admit it needs a rest and refurb.

I took the liberty of bolding above because I think it's so true!

Disney isn't the only park that struggles with this and in general I think Disney deals with it better than most.

Sea World is having Manta Mornings for AP holders to ride their new coaster. So we got up at ugly o'clock to be there an hour before opening, except guess what? No Manta, and the explanation was it's a new ride with kinks that need to be worked out.

Judging by what I heard from people who were especially vocal while lodging complaints, Manta has been down A LOT. At least at Disney you can go do something else. At SW they opened the gates and suggested people buy something to eat since absolutely nothing else was available for that first hour. BTW, Manta did finally come up, but not until afternoon.

OMG i pray that doesn't happen to us!!! We are going to be there for only two days next week and my kids are so excited to do this ride!! they will be devastated if we can't ride it! I understand completely why you are so upset! When you have to wait that long they should give you passes to be able to come back and ride it with no wait! I understand working the kinks out but its not fair for the families that come from all over the country to experience these rides and pay ALL that money to not get to experience it! We live in Louisiana and are only getting to go because my husband has to go for work this may be our only shot to ride it for a very long time! You shouldn't have to choose between waiting 4 hours to ride a ride or going and enjoying the park for the day!!!! Especially if you have dinner reservations you have to make and have to leave the line!

definitely go for the single rider line. it is pretty fast and often if you are in a party of two you'll be in the same car.

that said, i think that this ride blows test track out of the water. in fact, rsr may be my favorite disney ride anywhere. i'm not even a huge fan of cars, but the dark ride components are amazing, and the thrill part is just thrilling enough.

My 10 yr old son would be okay with doing the single rider but my little girl wouldn't be so I am just crossing my fingers everything goes smoothly for us. Thanks for the tips guys I really appreciate them!

I guess I waited for an hour: I got into the Hotel Guests line at 6:15 AM, my family joined me at 6:45 - we walked through Security, into the Park, funneled onto RSR and were off it by 7:30. We immediately got into the Single Rider Line and rode it again.

It took some planning, and break-downs will throw a wrench into that planning. We only rode it those two times the week of 6/18 (there for 5 days). It was a fun ride, but we weren't willing to wait for hours to ride it.

In all honesty, it's a great ride, but it does break down a lot more than it should. This is a result of not having any real soft openinge in my opinion. They had some previews, but that's not he same as opening it to the general public.

As for Luigi's, I am suprised at how little it has been breaking down, I have only seen it closed once and delayed by one ride cycle once. I have been over there a fair amount since the 15th, but I am sure all of the rides have broken down more than I know about, but from my viewpoint, they are doing fairly well, except RSR, it still needs some tweaking to get everything always working.

We only got to ride it 1x because it was broke most of the morning we were there. The plan was to send the family to get inline while I got the FP. I picked them up at 8:40 and they were for 6pm. The single rider line was closed when we got off but couldn't send 4 yr old alone anyway. Although we could have done child swap if it was open.
I was afraid w/ the breakdown that the FP line would be built up but it was fine. I think we waited 20-30 min still. It was very fun for the entire family. My 4 yr old DD doesn't like the dark rides but this was ok for her since it's just a small part and so fun.

I think you have a good point about being at the Disneyland Resort for a few days and having to wait so long in line for an attraction. For those of us who go often, it's just part of the experience to stand in line for a long time when an attraction is new. When Indiana Jones opened, my younger kids (at the time) and I waited four hours. I know it sounds crazy, but it was part of the excitement and fun.

For those who are coming in from out of town, it simply is not worth the wait. There are too many other fun things to do in the park, and though it would be fun, I would really recommend doing other things unless you can get fast passes for the ride.

Very good points! We are only going to have three full days and most of a fourth day next week and while I know we'll try our best to get on RSR, we won't be using up a huge chunk of time to do so. We are also paying a lot to stay onsite at the DLH and will want to spend time at the resort pool relaxing some of the time.

Now if I lived locally, or went multiple times per year, it would be different. But three and a half days is not a lot of time and I can't see us using up a large percentage of our time for just one ride.

I guess we got lucky. We got to CA 15 minutes before the regular opening (no EE for us) and then waited in line 15 minutes to ride RSR. It didn't break down at all while we were in line and our ride was amazing! A million and six times better than TT!

We went to WDW shortly after Fast Track opened when I was a kid. It broke down constantly as well. Since it's the same concept, I didn't expect RSR to be much different. Sorry you felt like it sucked, it's actually a really fun ride! I loved it :)

Kind of impossible though because if you were in the line with 2 hours of waiting people, how would they let you get on with no wait if this happened 4 times in one day. Ultimately, there would still be a wait if 200 people showed up with no wait passes. Unfortunatley, I think it will just have to be worked out. I will keep watching the boards and see how often the break downs are and if the lines are still long like that in Sep. we will skip it. I can't imagine any ride worth that kind of wait or frustration. That is one of those things that could make you a little bitter for a while and who needs that on holidays. We just aren't telling our kids about the new ride.

This ride blows away Test Track for all those that haven't rode it yet. The animatronics are superb. The race against the other car is all out pure enjoyment. This is worth the hype.

Is the end race considered a thrill?

That's what I'm hoping for, but I don't want to look at any on-ride videos.

for a whole 30 secs you get that "woo hoo" feeling. but the attraction as a whole is thrilling to me.
