What determines is they have single rider or not? Been open all week for single rider but not today

I would agree with the above and put it down to a staffing issue. Kind of annoying on a busy Saturday though!

In my experience this week it was the same cast member at the queue where the standby and single rider meet. It didn’t seem like they had a “dedicated” single rider person at the load area either. They had a couple cast members up there but they were both assigning standby and single riders to cars.

The only staffing I could personally think would be if it was a couple brand new staff that might have been struggling to balance the two lines and it was slowing them down in general so a lead just decided to shut the single down.

Yesterday when I went through they had dedicated cast member for single rider and the DAS/VIP return. 🤷‍♀️

Well they had a dedicated person at the “hold point” before they send a couple single riders up to the load platform. I guess I assume they always staff a person there but possibly that’s just for when single riders/DAS is open?

I think too it depends on how busy the single rider line and standby lines are at the time. I rode it 3x on Friday and the first two were early and single rider was practically walk-on (standby was 55 min) and there wasn't anyone stationed at the "hold point." When I went back later, both lines were much longer and they had someone staffing and sending people from single rider, the regular line and DAS/return at different intervals.

It really can be a combination of things, staffing and single rider queue length. You may not 'see' a Cast Member but there's normally an extra one in rotation when single rider is open.

It can also be up to the Load CM if they feel comfortable managing single riders along with grouping regular line. Basically an extremely fast game of tetris non-stop for 30+ minutes until you're rotated into different position. It may look easy but so many issues can quickly arise and you can NOT slow down loading as it may cause station backup/downtime.

Keep an eye on Space Mountain/Matterhorn/Indy loading for a few minutes to witness controlled chaos. ⏱

Yep. I could easily see if they are dealing with a decent amount of somewhat new cast members they might try to limit the combinations of guests so the new cast can focus on effectively managing the people and loading the cars. Much better to kick single riders out into a long line than have a 40 minute line grow to 60+ minutes because you’re slowing down the filling and running into issues where parties are split up (in an unnecessary manner) or confusion with some rows having too many people etc.

I definitely have been impressed watching cast members quickly loading vehicles, especially when dealing with larger groups they split up. So on RSR, a group of four being two people in two different rows, as opposed to 3 + 1, and then quickly filling those with single riders while still continuing with next groups up!

....add in a height check that skipped by Greeter, a screaming/scared child, a guest that is unable to buckle seat belt on previous group now standing up in car, guests taking masks off, 100 degrees with no air flow in station.

Fun times 😂 not that I've had first hand experience. ;)

I was there yesterday and the single rider line was open. We used a das and walked right next to that line and there were definitely people in the line. And they were pulling people to fill cars including over in the handicap area (bringing single riders over to fill the cars).
