RSR compared to TT

Has anyone read reviews where RSR was compared to Test Track ? I am interested in how the speed and banking feels between the two.

RSR is a lot smoother ride, due to the theming, but that is where comparisons have to end in my opinion.

To compare the two, would be to compare an Apple to a Square. Honestly, it is not possible to describe just how much more incredible RSR is.

The banking is much more angled on the speed loop. That's because of the tighter space requirements. You can feel the steeper banking on the upper track of the speed loop. Down low, it's just fun and a tight curve.



The speed isn't quite as fast due to the extra "driving experiences" they throw at you. TT has just that straight shot out the door and the large, but very simple curves in the cast area and around the building. Having that much space to allow for gentle angles means you can torque the speed.

Probably an odd question, but does RSR have a "hot" and "cold" area like TT? I am guessing it doesn't because I don't know how that would go with the theming, but those areas are why DD(6) hates TT and she wants to know before she agrees to set foot on RSR.

The answer to that is no. Completely different storyline. You aren't going through an automotive factory. You are driving through Radiator Springs

When the ride splits into two parts, if you end up in the House of Body Art scene there is a light misting of water, but I don't think there's anything like the hot or cold scenes. I haven't been on the Casa Della Tires scene yet, so I'm not sure if it's any different there.

Overall, RSR is considerably slower than Test Track, but there is also terrain like hills and dips along the way.

Sorry. I'm excited if you couldn't tell. Thanks for the comparison. We were watching Cars on the Disney channel last night, and they kept showing Carsland at every commercial break. My Daughter age 6 (who has no idea we are going to Disneyland, just San Diego) says I can't wait to ride THAT! My wife says to her, "you know, that is not in Florida where Disneyworld is right?" (we are going in Nov. and she knows about that trip)

My daughter looks back at her and says, "yeah, I know.....It's in California".....and then we can see the wheels in her head turning, she looks at us very excited and says, "AND WE'RE GOING TO CALIFORNIA!"

We said back to her, "yes honey, but that is in Anaheim and we are going to San Diego." The look of disappointment broke my heart. Almost told right there that we really ARE going to go to DL (after San Diego of course) but it will make the surprise when we pull up that much more exciting.

I agree with this review and comparison. Bottom line is that RSR is and feels slower, but the hills have little pops of air, which is fun and missing from the fast part at TT. And no way does TT beat RSR in visuals...not even close (inside or out). I did feel like the indoor scenes at RSR were a tad bit rushed and I didn't catch as many details as I would have liked to, but the animatronics are top-notch!

I also think the review gives a good comparison. The theming at RSR is VERY good. And the race is exciting in it's own way. For speed and banking it's still Test Track for me although if the rides were side by side I'd go back and forth between the two.

Sorry to ask the newby question here. I remember a ride when I was younger in tomorrow land that was on a track, maybe 15 years ago. Was that test track?

Test Track is at Epcot in Florida. Not in Tomorrowland. If Tomorrowland at DL you are probably thinking about Rocket Rods or maybe Autopia.

I imagine you are thinking of Autopia in tomorrow land, where you drive small gas powered cars on a track with a rail in the middle to keep them on course. It is a Disney classic and still there.

Test track is at Epcot at Walt Disney World. It has 6 passengers ride in full size cars at freeway speeds. It is a similar ride design to the new Radiator Springs Racers, but with totally different theming.
