RSR at night

one of our goals this trip is to ride RSR at night. To get an evening fastpass, is it just a matter of trying to get one later in the day? Does anyone know an approximate time to start trying to get one for a night time ride? Thanks! ✨

Your best bet is to keep checking the app to get a gauge on how the times are falling. So many other variables.

Like the PP said, there are lots of variables such as when the parks open, when the parks close, time of dusk, etc. My general experience is that we would need to get a FP for RSR by noon for an early night (shortly after dusk) return time. If RSR at night is important, I highly recommend MaxPass. It is so much easier to get the time you want.

Are we talking just the disneyland app? Would love to try MaxPass, but there are 15 of us going and it seems like it would get too complicated. Maybe I'm wrong.

All 15 of your party would need to purchase Maxpass which is an add-on of $10/pp. So $150 extra is a pretty hefty fee to ride RSR at night. With Maxpass you can book FPs on your phone without running to the FP distribution machines to pull a paper FP. So I would skip Maxpass if I were you and just watch your Dland app for how the RSR FP return times are evolving. Two other options are: 1) ride at night in single rider line - your party will be broken up but you will all get to ride it at night; or 2) get in line right before park closing as the standby wait time is often less then what is posted at that moment and you will be guaranteed a ride if you are in line before closing time.

I would also keep an eye on the wait times in the app in week leading up to your trip to gauge when the passes are running out. We rode at dusk on our last family trip and I checked the weather app on my phone to verify the time for sunset then kept checking the app for return times and snagged my FP’s for the correct time. It was perfect since we got to be right by Flo’s for Sha Boom then hopped on RSR for an evening ride.

Also be sure you don't pull a different FP that will block out the time you need to pull an evening RSR FP. Since RSR FPs don't last all evening, you don't want to pull something that has a 2-hour return anywhere near the time RSR may be running out.
