RPR to Universal Studios for early park admission

How do I get there for early park admission at 8 am from RPR? Walk towards citywalk, then towards US? What time should I leave the hotel to get there for opening? Should I get there early, we are going for the day on Friday, Feb 8th, basically to do the HP stuff in both parks.

I hear there are water boats - faster, slower, do they start running early?

I prefer the boats as while they may take longer then walking they do the security scan before you get on the boat. When we walked there was a bottleneck at security. We did get there approx 15 min before official park opening and ee had approx 20 people in line in front of us. if I recall we waited approx 5 min before they started scanning tickets.

The walking path from rpr to the parks empties out next to Margaritaville in City Walk

Could be a 10 minute walk for you

You will have a security check on the walking path prior to reaching margaritaville


Turn left and you will see IOA

The Studios is about a short 3 minute walk from IOA

If you use the water taxi from RPH, your security check is done prior to entering the boat

If you take the water taxi you disembark about halfway between IOA and Studios, on the opposite side of the water than the parks. Get off the boat and keep going the same direction the boat had been going to get to the bridge to Studios.

When we walk we’ve done it both ways. Sometimes we cross the IOA bridge then walk on that side of the water to Studios. Sometimes we stay on the city walk side and cross later.

I prefer walking by IOA because I love the music they pipe in there.

We've done both many times, & I think it takes about the same amount of time. There's usually hardly any wait (if at all) at the "secret entrance" that macraven pointed out. For us, it depends on whether we feel like taking a walk, or whether our feet are really tired...
