Hey everyone!
I've been lurking since May and I wanted to let everyone know about our stay at RPR.
We checked in Thursday August 10. We were assigned to room 3444. It's in the second tower on the third floor. As we were walking down the hall to our room, we were hit with this smell of mildew and smoke. I know I asked for a non-smoking room, but at this point I thought the front desk made a mistake.
I went in the room and it smelled like old cigarettes. It also smelled like housekeeping was trying to cover it up with lysol or something. I look on the floor and the carpet was spotted and filthy. I remember reading another person's post about the dirty sheets, so after seeing all of this I check the sheets too.
The sheets were okay. But, the pillowcases has some stains. I was trying to not make a big deal out of it b/c we just got in from a long flight and I just wanted to relax. So, I just used the less stained of the pillows on my bed and flipped it over. The pillows on my BFs bed were fine.
After touring I-drive, we come home to take a shower. However, since my soap was confiscated at the airport, I needed to use hotel soap. I went into the shower and there was absolutely no soap. I call FD and they said that they would send some up. 1 hour later, no soap. I call FD and they said the runner left and was on his way. 1 hour and 45 minutes later, we get soap.
The next day we hit the parks and the FOTL option is awesome I must say.
We come back home at 5:30pm and our room had not been cleaned. I'm normally a calm person, but I'm a little upset now b/c it's nap time. I get cranky at nap time.
I called FD and they said that housekeeping was running behind and that they would be there in an hour or 2. I was P0'd b/c 1) I wanted to come back to a clean room and 2) I didn't want housekeeping disturbing our nap.
My BF suggests that I call management. We got the standard room with a garden view for $183.20 a night from AAA. So, when I called the manager I told him everything that had gone wrong since day 1 and I asked if I got the crappy room b/c if the discounted price. The manager assured me that was not the case. But, I don't know b/c I remember when I called to make the ressie, the woman said that they had a few rooms set-aside as AAA rooms. The manager appologized for all the mishaps and offered to upgrade our room for free. Cool.
So we pack up and head for tower 3 with a pool view. Wow. The hallway and the room smelled sooo much better. We also had a view of IOA, it was awesome. We took a nap and slept peacefully.
Woke up to take a shower and head to citywalk. Once again, no soap. Called front desk and told them about last night and asked if we could get soap sooner. They said no b/c they only had one person working in housekeeping and it would take 2 hours. I hung up the phone. Why the heck a big ol' hotel like RPR had only one person working is beyond me. Angry, I call them again asked if I could just go down and pick up the soap. The answer was no. So, BF goes out to find soap. In the hallway he meets someone who works in housekeeping and they strike up a convo. BF tells him the problem. Guy laughs at the "2 hour wait" and gets lots of soap and brings to us. We tell him all the problems we've had in 2 days. He says it's b/c Universal has a new hotel and all of the old staff at RPR went to work there. He said that the people at RPR now are new.
Good things about RPR--- The outside (pool, lagoon, gardon) of the hotel is totally beautiful. Breakfast was good. FOTL is GREAT. Water Taxi's are cool.
But, I will NEVER go back there. Next time we'll do PBH.
