RPR - DVD & Tchoup Chop

do the rooms have DVD players?

does Tchoup Chop have a bar? i was wondering if we could go in for a few drinks & appetizers w/out ressies if my parents can watch the kids. If Tchoup Chop doesn't have a bar, is there a restaurant that does at the RPR?

No... at least not one that you can 'drop in and sit at'... but if you can get your parents to watch the kids, make a reservation and eat there - you WON'T be disappointed!!!!

We had dinner there 2 weeks ago- it was wonderful!!

I have had drinks in the bar at Tchoup Chop while waiting for my table. This was about 2 years ago, so kikipug's info may be more accurate since she was there 2 weeks ago. When we wre there, we sat at a table in the bar area while we waited for the rest of our party.

I don't think the standard rooms had DVD players. We were upgraded to a suite once and that had a DVD player I think.

Hmm... maybe there are tables behind the wall (in front of the bar)... I couldn't see over there... but there isn't a 'bartender' or waitstaff... I think that its just a holding area for people who have ressies... I'd just call and ask.

There is a bar when you walk in to your far left, against the back wall. There were always seats there when we visited. Did that change since last year? Here is a picture of the bar.

Isnt there a mini wall just in front of the bar area?

Yes, I recall a mini wall--there are tables in the bar area lined up along the wall. There was a bartender who took our order. Don't remember if there was a server or not.

If for some reason Tchoup Chop doesnt work out for you (I hope it does it is that good) I would not hesitate to stop by Jakes American Bar...its fun they have great cocktails and apps as well! We love it and always go while staying there.

I think RPR has a "Star Services" borrow list & phone extension to call for items you wish to borrow. We borrowed a couple of things last year. I think DVD players were on the list. I know they had cd players and movies listed.

thanks everyone - the DVD & Tchoup Chop questions are related. I asked about the DVD players b/c if my parents can come over & watch the kids (they're staying elsewhere) then they can put in a DVD to keep the kids (infant & toddler) busy & we can make a run for it downstairs! I'll bring some DVDs just in case. It would really help to distract them - they may not want us to leave esp. when in a different place. If I can firm up the babysitting opportunity then i'll make reservations at TC but i have a feeling it'll be spur of the moment. we'll try the bar area at TC. If that doesn't work out, it's good to know that there's another place called Jake's. Maybe we'll get crazy & go to both!

It's a very nice bar. We did not have a dinner reservation but they were happy to serve us anything off the menu at the bar. We had a great evening, talking to the bartender and trying different items (mostly starters and soups) from the menu.

Yes, Tchoup Chop does have a bar..and the drinks are fantastic.
