Day 3 - 7/15 - Wednesday

We were such a bunch of lazybones today. We ate breakfast in the room and puttered about the hotel. I took the girls to check out the Mariners Club for kids, the 2 shops and the game room. Thing1 had been wanting to get her hair wrapped since we got to Orlando so we went to the stand by the pool. $25 dollars later she was a happy camper. She also mentioned that she saw some girls about her age with dark blue mesh backpacks that said "Leows Hotels" on them. I told her they were given out to teenagers at check-in...just like she got the pail and shovel and beads. Well... that was all she needed to hear... and her eyes filled with tears... she thought her gifts were too babyish and wanted me to ask the manager if she could exchange them for the backpack. Then Thing2 starts to cry because Thing1 is crying and before I know it the hairwrap lady came over because she thought Thing1 was crying because she didn't like her hair wrap. Oy vey! I wanted to jump in the pool altogether. So to make a long story short, we went over to the concierge and asked if it would be possible to Thing1 to exchange her gifts for a backpack. Well, I don't know if it was the teary eyes or what, but not only did she give Thing1 a backpack, but she also gave one to Thing2 as well... and she said they could keep the pails and shovels! I must have thanked her 100 times. The backpacks were filled with one of each...bag of Crunch and Munch...trial size Banana Boat SPF 15 suntan lotion...trial size Lime Tic Tacs...chocolate icing in a squeeze pouch...refillable mug...and trial size hair conditioner. By now the Lt found us... we had left him in the room to perform foot surgery on his ingrown toenail and wanted to know if we were done "messing around" because he wanted to go to Universal. Can anyone say Frozen Margarita?????

By the time we got to the gates it was 1:30, really crowded and hot enough to make me wish I really had jumped in the pool. We all did the Nickelodeon Show, which I thought was good. It was really too hot for me today, and I didn't want to take any chances, so I left the Lt. with the girls and headed back to the hotel. Just as I got off the water taxi, it started to rain again. I realized that it had rained every afternoon at the same time since we got to Orlando. Anyway, we had agreed to meet back at Lombards Landing for dinner at 4:30. About 20 years ago the Lt. and I really did have dinner at Lombards Landing in San Francisco, so I thought it would be nice to have dinner there again...except this time in Universal. I had the chicken and shrimp with linguini in a pesto sauce, the Lt. had the salmon, Thing1 had a burger and fries, and Thing2 had fish and chips. We all shared this huge dessert called Ships Ahoy...it was three scoops of chocolate chip ice cream, chocolate syrup, chocolate chips and 2 huge chocolate chip cookies in a giant martini glass...the glass had granulated sugar around the rim, just like the salt on a margarita glass...it was fantastic! Oh, and we also had a couple of glasses of wine with dinner...the total cost came to about $110.00 with tip. Very good and well worth it. After dinner, the girls did all the water rides they could find.

We got back to the room about 9:30, but turndown service was not to be again. The girls were asleep by 9:45 and slept right through the fireworks. They were beat and so were we.

Thanks for sharing ~ Wonderful reviews!!!!!!

LOL!! I've felt like "jumping in the pool" many times at home, and we don't even have a pool! ;)

Great report!
