We stayed at the Royal Pacific one night (and 2 days) before going to our regular hotel just to experience FOTL. Used the APH rate of $149. I was very pleased witht he hotel. Check-in went smoothly except for the clerk asking us the same questions 2-3 times (literally). Weren't sure what that was about, decided she was new.

The lobby and other common areas were beautiful, airy and spacious. My kids enjoyed waiting out by the fountains while we checked in, which probably took about 30 minutes. I loved the way they had the rooms separated into 3 towers. We were in tower one. Long, beautiful quiet halls. The rooms were small, but very well decorated. The dark colors were a nice touch - and different. Made you feel like you were in a luxury hotel.

We all enjoyed going to the parks via the water taxi. If it hadn't been for the fact that I really loved the hotel, I would have been disappointed in FOTL access. The parks had very low attendence. There was really no waiting for any attraction except maybe the Jimmy Neutron ride.

All in all, I really enjoyed my one night stay and look forward to going back and spending a few more day either there or the Portofino Bay. I thought the hotel - being the cheapest Universal Resort was much better than Disney's Animal Kingdom lodge. If they added a meal plan, I'd be sold!

Does anyone know what all of the little frog statuettes are about?

Thanks for posting your trip report. We are going to be at RPR the first week in August and we are really looking forward to it. Can you tell me what your room number was, and what your view was. We are hoping to get a tower one room with a park view.

Great report! We have stayed at the RPR twice and are going back for a third time next month. We love FOTL! Even with low attendance you literally walk on to the attractions. Can't beat that! As for the frogs, they go with the tropical theming. A clerk told me that they were for "good luck" and protection in the Fiji culture. Not sure how true that is, but sounded good to me... :flower:

Thanks again for sharing!

What kind of view did you have from your Tower 1 room? With the $ you save staying at RPR instead of AK you can probably afford dinner at Tchoup Chop! With all the rain we've had here frogs are everywhere! I hope it means "Good Luck!"

We had a pool view room. It was really nice. We didn't have a full view of the pool, it was more like the far left corner near a sand box.

The room number was 1242, which is actually the 2nd floor - one floor below the lobby.

Try going to this link to find out about views from RPR rooms.

We had room 1633 and had a view of the parks and fireworks at US.

Thanks so much for your report. We're going to RPR on 6/25 for our first trip to Universal. I'm getting so nervous about packing for everyone but at least I know we'll love the hotel. We're staying in a king suite so we have a separate place to put the baby to sleep (if we were all in the same room we'd never get to sleep). We stayed at AKL our last trip to Disney. The animals were cool but have to say I wasn't that impressed with the resort itself. Knowing we have FOTL is awesome - its saving me from having to come up with an itinerary like I always do for our Disney trips.
Counting down to Saturday ...... :cool1: :cool1:

I just read your post - are there fireworks now?? I thought I read they were only in July. If so, can you tell me the details - where, when etc.
No fireworks now. They start July 4th and usually run through the second week in August. We have always been there in July and really enjoy the fireworks.
