RPH or Poly?

I have reservations in November at the Polynesian for three nights and then the RPH for three nights. I'm considering just extending my stay at the Poly instead of moving to the RPH. I'd be paying about the same amount for both hotels. Any opinions? Would I be disappointed with the RPH after the Poly? If FOTL was an issue I'd definitely stay at the RPH, but I just don't think lines are much of a problem in early November. Plus I had to commit to three nights at the RPH to get the lowest rate, and I really don't need that much time at US/IOA. I love it there, but I can easily do those two parks in two days. I don't know what to do! Any thoughts?

I'm speaking from watching posts on this board, and from what I have heard from posters who have exp. both, the RPH blows the Ply outta the water. You may want to reserch some threads about royal pacfic. Also there are some great pic's in those threads you can tool around and check those out as well. I think by the time you get there in Nov. they would have there growing pains out of the way and you could enjoy a wonderful stay. I'd kill to have three whole days at US/IOA anytime.

I have to go with the Poly hands down. I know there are people on this board who disagree with me..... ( I am a Disney fan & Universal visistor LOL). I stayed in the Poly concierge in Aug of 2001. This Aug I stayed at the RPH concierge and there IS NO comparison. The Poly's food selections were great & they never ran out ...they even had a selection for the kids. At RPH they barely had enough food for the first hour of the evening selection & they were always running out of cold water & sodas. The staff in the concierge lounge at both places were fantastic.....now housekeeping is a different story.... The Poly had automatic turn down service (did't have to call) the RPH did not. The daily made service was great at the Poly.... one of the days at the RPH the maid never showed! We ran out of toilet paper the next day! Upon checking out of the RPH we called a bellman & he never showed. If the price is the same & FOTL isn't a need.....go with the Poly. It is a much more relaxing resort.... Don't get me wrong about the RPH....it is nice & I am going back on Thanksgiving weekend (for FOTL)! ;)

I have not stayed at the Polynesian Hotel, but I can tell you there is a definite difference in the age of the Hotels, since RPH is brand new. When i toured the facility, the rooms were a bit small for my taste, but offered great luxuries.

Also, It depends on how much time you're planning to spend at the theme parks. If you plan on spending most of your time at disney, then it might be better to stay there and buy UE Booklets when you arrive.

I wish you luck on your dilemma.

Aren't the rooms at the Poly bigger than RPH? Last time I checked, the Poly rooms were 409 square feet...and I seem to recall that RPH rooms are somewhere between 325-340...I remember being surprised that they are smaller than the rooms at the Wilderness Lodge...

RPH may be new - and the pool area looks unbelievable - but we stayed at the Poly about a year ago, and the rooms had been refurbished recently - they were gorgeous. Also, the pool at the Poly was just refurbished.

Of course, I am also biased...a WDW lover and US/IOA visitor - LOL!!

the rooms at the Poly are much bigger & when they say they can hold 5 they can. You get 2 queens & a day bed. The RPH has either 2 queens...(not sure where to fit a cot) or 1 king & a pullout sofa. When you pull out the sofa....the matteress touches the the king bed and leaves you no room to walk! When we (family of 5) stayed at the Poly we had room, in the RPH we were a bit cramped. I am (as I said) returning for Thanksgiving but it will only be me & my 2 daughters....we won't be cramped then..... And yes...they Poly is & still being refurbed! The rooms aren't old & stuffy as some have said....

Thanks so much for the responses. I've been reading all that I can find here about the RP, but the reviews look pretty mixed. The way it stands now I'll be paying $110 at the RP and $116 at the Poly (both include tax). But by the time I add paying for parking and buying the entertainment book the RP will actually be more expensive than the Poly. The thing is that I think this is a once-in-a-lifetime price at the Poly (I was upgraded due to Caribbean Beach closing), and I could probably stay at the RP in the future for a decent price. Maybe I'll stay 4 or 5 nights at the Poly and 1 or 2 nights at the RP. I'll just have to see what kind of price Loews will give me without the 3-night minimum. I can easily do UO in 2 days, especially if I have FOTL. I do plan to spend more time at Disney, especially since the food & wine festival will be on. Sorry for rambling, and thanks for the help!

At 116.00 a night, I would spend EVERY night at the Poly. You'll never see that price again. Rack rate at RPR during value season is 149.00 standard. Rack rate at the Poly during value season is 299.00 standard. Great rates at the Hard Rock and PBH can still be had, so I'm sure you'll be able to book RPR at a bargain in the future.

Including tax? Oh, my gosh- that's fantastic!! I would stay at the Poly a few more nights!!! I am very jealous. At that rate, I don't even think there's a question!

I know! Isn't that price great? The lowest rate I had EVER seen for the Poly prior to this was a $182 (incl tax) annual passholder rate (and THAT was a great rate). Lots of people who had been holding Caribbean Beach reservations with the AP discount have been moved to the Poly for $109 (incl tax)! It was just a lucky break to be holding CBR reservations during the time they decided to shut it down for rehab. So, I guess you've convinced me to stay at the Poly the whole time. I plan on getting annual passes for both WDW and UO this year, so I'll be back and can stay onsite at UO another time. Thanks!

We are staying at the YC in Sept followed by a 2 day stay at the RPR. I will post when I return to let you know how we liked it. It looks very pretty in the pics I've seen.

Poly hands down at that rate.....no doubt about it.... my husband isn't one for going with me all the time to Orlando but for that rate for the Poly...he would even jump on it!!!!! As others have said...rack rate for rack rate....go for the Poly!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Pugsley, I would also vote for the Poly, even though I have not stayed there I visited this August and I would kill for a night there. I did stay at the RP and it is a beautiful hotel but with the closeness of the Poly to the MK should be worth it and since you are getting an unbelieveable great rate, go with the Poly. The RP like I said is beautiful but the best feature is the FOTL which I took advantage of because I went during end of July and it was defiinitely needed but during November I don't think you'll even need FOTL except if you plan on visiting during the weekend. I stayed at CBR from 7/27 to 8/1 and I fell in love with it, I'm glad that Disney has made it up to in this way. Good luck and enjoy your wonderful vacation.
