Everyone in the family pitched in to get my husband RPDE when we go for his B-Day. Since I will have DS7 & DS3 with me, while waiting I have a couple questions--(and RPDE did not see to know much about the Orlando set up)

-we are staying at BCV & have to be there at 9:00, is it best to take a taxi? any idea cost? (I think BC/YC does not have transport to TTC)
-they think there is a shuttle every 15 mins (but weren't sure from where), would I be better going after DH, maybe 1 hour later?
-does it really take 4 hours :scared1: (what do I do w/ the kids for 4 hours!!!!)
-they said there are bleachers, is it shaded? or blazing HOT!
-& finally, will DH be car fume stinky after doing this or can we stop at DTD for lunch before heading back to BCV?

any other tips would be great :)
(of course DH said not to worry about any of these, its no big deal--that's because he is not the one waiting with 2 Disney crazy kids for 4 hours while he's driving in circles ;)) TIA

First you can take the boat to DHS and a bus from there to TTC. The Shuttle for RPDE is right in front of the Kennel.
You are really under the hot sun. My DH only did the ride along and felt it took forever. We were just outside, they had some shaded areas over the computer check-in section.
I personally don't think your 2 kids can be occupied for that long. maybe you can go later or leave early. You can take the monorail to MK, or any of the resorts around that area.

Hi,
Your DH will have an awesome time.I have done the RPDE twice at New Hampshire.
As far as the experience itself, it may take up to 4 hours. Your husband will have a quick intro to the car and it's safety features and will ride around the track in a van with an instructor showing the race lines to take into the corners. Then he will get fitted for a helmet and HANS device and wait for his turn to go on the track. The length of time it takes depends on the number of drivers that there are, he will have to wait til everyone finishes their laps and have a short certificate ceremony. They give you a sheet with his lap speeds and some coupons and vouchers from the sponsors. Now as far as the laps themselves, I have a couple of tips for him. He will be in a car by himself driving behind an instructors car. These cars are set up to drive "like they are on rails". He should not be too worried about wrecking the car. There might also be some other cars on the track at the same time, but they keep them pretty spaced out. The instructor will only drive as fast as your husband lets him, by that I mean, if your husband goes faster and is on his bumper, the instructor will go faster. If your husband goes slower, the instructor will slow down to keep the gap between the cars the same. If your husband goes too fast for the instructors liking, he will wave his hand for your husband to slow down a little. Also tell him that the cones they set up to indicate were to pick up and let off the gas are VERY conservative, he can go in a little deeper and pick up quicker than those marks.
When he gets out of the car, look at the look on his face, it is guarenteed to have a huge smile on it!! Tell him to enjoy himself and have fun!
