RP discounts for April 2006

I'll be staying for 6 nights the last week of APril 2006. The rates are high. There are no discounts out, not even AAA. To my surprise, I tried to book 4/25 to 4/30 and it came up completely booked. I called and was told that they are full due to conventions. I was playing on the computer today and was able to get 4/24 to 4/30 as available. I tryed 4/25 to 4/30 and it still shows unavailable. Do you think they reserve certain rooms for long terms stays. I just wonder why I couldn't book 5 nights but can book 6 nights.

Also, does anyone thing there will be discounts for this time period?

I've experienced this many times at RPR, most recently trying to book a trip in January. I can book four nights, January 10-14, but I cannot book two nights - January 12th and 13th. I've been told there is a convention. I do have reservations at Portofino Bay for January 12-13, but it is more expensive. I'm waiting for AAA rates to be released - that should help.

Last year, we planned a trip in late May and the RP website showed no availability for quite awhile. I called and was told it was very busy. Then about 2 months before there
were rooms. Who knows why its done this way. What I did yesterday was book for May27-29 directly with RP.The reservation agent,Pat, told me that once the AAA or APH
discounts were made available for those dates,I can call back and the discount will be applied to our reservation. Try calling and tell them what you found,the staff @ RP is very nice. You might want to book and wait for a discount. You have up to 5 days before your stay to cancel. Julie

I did book this morning. I'll stay for 6 nights, I'll have to cut 1 night from Disney. We are renting a car, so we can drive to any park we want to. I booked a standard room for $299 per night. If the hotel is full, I would imagine that RP would not have to release any discounts. I just hope that is not the case.

Here's a question....can you book more nights than you need and prior to the 5 day cancellation, can you just cancel the days you won't need??
