Roy's restaurant gift card question

A friend of mine is going to Hawai'i on his Honeymoon and I wanted to purchase a Roy's gift card for him as a gift so he can enjoy a nice meal while on his trip. If I purchase from the Roy's Hawai'i website I need to pay shipping and be home to sign for it (since I work full time, that is not a possibility). Do you know if I purchase a Roy's gift card from Amazon if it can be used at the Hawaiian locations? There is a separate website for the stateside locations so wasn't sure if there was a difference with this chain.

I read a review this week that said they won't work. The ones on the mainland are franchises, while the ones on the islands are owned by the original owner.

Call the Roys in Ko olina and ask how to get one for their store. There are only a couple of stores that are still owned by ROY and they are different altogether and all are on the islands. The one by Aulani is one of them.
