an Oscar nom for the Roy Disney-nurtured tooner short "Destino," a decades-old project tracing to a Mouse collaboration with surrealist painter Salvador Dali. Roy Disney was a persistent advocate of the film and as exec producer would be one of those accepting an Oscar should "Destino" prevail over four other nominates in the best animated short film category.

"We're thrilled to death," said Disney, the nephew of studio founder Walt Disney. "One of my constant themes is that we are in the art business. And art comes before business --- I think that's what this has to say."

Now it will be interesting to see if the Disney Company actively campaigns for the short to win the Oscar.

After all, if it wins Roy will have a chance at the podium and who knows what he would say . . .:scratchin

Hopefully he'll be civil. I think Roy has the company's best interests at heart, but I am getting a bit turned off by his constant name-calling. Criticize people if you want -- list their faults and provide proof of things done wrong. But stop calling people idiots and louses and such in public forums. That just puts a black mark on the Disney family name, IMO.

That said, I hope Destino wins -- I saw it a few weeks back, and it's remarkable!

--->I'd agree if true....but you also have to wonder how much influence other site mangers/spin agents might have in any comments publicly released, given the stated goal....

--->Again I agree !! :)

Roy has called Eisner both a "rat" and a "louse" on his savedisney website and used "rat" again on Larry King. Someone at the recent theme park enthusiasts meeting called ME an idiot during a discussion, and Roy agreed. I'll discount the rat and louse comments as being initially emotional outbursts during the days after the resignation. I'll even give him the "idiot" agreement, since it wasn't him who said it, he just smiled and nodded when someone else did. But if he's said it in public, you know it's been said in smaller gatherings. And while that helps rabblerouse the troops, I don't think it helps his cause in the long run. JMHO

"Why is WDsearcher spinning so much?"

My thoughts, too.

I do ... but I'm not "spinning" a company line. I actually happen to believe in everything I'm saying. Odd ... I know.

Can Roy call Ei$ner an "anti-midget" or "that 'living' dead guy," and still be considered as civil as Cou$in Mike?

Only if it gets leaked to the press, and is then followed with attempts to justify it. Then they'd be on par. If it's said in public, it doesn't carry the same lilt.

Is there anything in print where ME is calling Roy or Stan similar type names ? I haven't read anything, but I'm also not looking for info on the whole Roy/Stan/ME isue.

I don't think ME has made a public comment on the issue at all.
