I originally booked CRT because I thought it was a must do for everyone. Then some friends started telling me its really more for young girls, "bippity boppity boo", magic wands, and so on... Well, I have DD13, DS8 and DS6. I'm thinking the DD13 is a bit old for that stuff and the DS8/6 might think its too "girly". So I went out looking for another signature dinner and the only thing I could find was CG. We're doing Very Merry Christmas Party that evening (11/21) so both of the reservations are for early dinner, i.e. no Wishes while at CG.

Do you think I'm making a mistake by switching away from CRT?

was with us when he was seven and eight. He tolerated it both times with the seven year old experience a little more tolerable. Of course my daughter was three and four for those trips so she was enthralled. We have gone for lunch where there are characters walking among the tables. Dinner is more of a show.

I would probably do CG given your daughter's age.

I would also pick CG. The food is much better, the view is something all of our children would enjoy.

I think CG is brilliant! Fab food and view - would def recommend it!

It depends on how self-entertaining your kids are. California Grill is fantastic and I love it, but it can be a little slow, and while the view is great, it's just a view, there's not a ton else going on (aside from normal restaurant bustle). With CRT, there's more action going on around you. CG is the better meal, definitely, but CRT may be better for all-around entertainment value.

Thanks everyone, sounding like I was right to look for something other than CRT.

But, don't you get a photo op as part of the package at Cinderella's Castle? I think that would be worth it for your girls and you. Just something else to consider.

I think CRT for boys gives them toy swords and such which may be entertaining to the boys. As a girl, she may not be all in to the characters but eating in the castle is exciting. I'm 24 and so excited about eating there.

I ate at CRT for breakfast a fews years back when my kids were really young..we did it for my daughter who was 3 at the time..the breakfast was great and even my two boys 4 and 7 (at the time) liked it. So fast forward three years and this past August I decided to do CRT for dinner the night of my son's 8th birthday...THE FOOD AND SERVICE WERE BOTH TERRIBLE!! I was on the deluxe dining plan and felt robbed. The so-called dinner show was lame..it was the biggest disappointment of our vacation...I didn't do CG because they had a 48 hour prior cancellation policy and with 3 kids I didn't want to take the chance....but if I had to do it over I would have done The CG!! Have fun!:)
