What is the circular thing between the bed and the veranda? Don't understand the need for two tables - 12 chairs in a 1BR suite. Can somebody explain this to me? Great location at the bow of the ship but for some reason it seems small. Just asking questions.

My first thought was that it looked like a round loveseat, but the room description says that there is a pull-down bed in the Master bedroom, so that must be where the pull-down is, much like it is on the Magic & Wonder...although it looks like a tight squeeze.
And all I can say about all those chairs, is to keep in mind that it is just a rendering, we haven't seen yet exactly how many chairs are really at the dining table....but yes, I do imagine that if there are that many, it is with the idea of entertaining in mind.
I know that several of the larger suites at the Grand Californian Hotel at Disneyland really don't SLEEP that many people, but they have large dining/conference tables.
Not what I would have designed, but no one asked me.

I think it's a great idea for large family cruises....I know if I booked a cruise, I'd love for all my family members to come up and enjoy the suite before retiring to their own cabins....also, any fellow Dis'ers would be welcome to come and enjoy the suite! :)

We noticed the same thing about the table. Plus, the table in cat T has 4 chairs, but sleeps 5. I guess if you book the R and the connecting concierge oceanview with veranda suite, it gives you a place where everyone can eat together....or as someone mentioned, a place to host a party. I read somewhere on the DCL site that the second table is supposed to be a card/game table since the suite is supposed to be stocked with games.

Regarding that thing in the corner in the master....I don't know! I hadn't noticed it until you mentioned it. Maybe it's a chaise lounge? It looks like some type of nook where you could tuck away and read with a nice view.

Does anyone know where the fold down double bed is in the master? That thing in the corner isn't something that turns into a bed is it?!?...but the description says the bed is a fold down.

Also, I am sure we have all noticed how windy it can get when standing on the front of the ship when leaving port and at sea. With the Rs on the front, I wonder if the verandas will have some type of taller plexiglass railings or plexiglass dividers to help block the wind?

...and yes, I agree the size is small. I don't like the new smaller size. We have stayed in the Walt and Roy and enjoyed the layout. There is the master and the sitting area that contains the fold down bed. That area can be closed off from the master by sliding double doors and from the living room by sliding double doors. Someone could go in and out of the master without disturbing anyone in the fold down bed area by going through a separate entrance into the master from the hall. Plus there is a second bedroom. We sailed with 5-7 people in the past the size was great. I don't like how there is only 1 bedroom and the master has a pull down that can't be closed off. Plus, the bathroom looks like it is a part of the room. Isn't the jacuzzi gong to be a little loud if someone is trying to sleep? The tub looks like it is next to the bed! I am not sure there is even a door separating the shower, tub and sink area from the room.
I am sure with time, we will know more. :)

I was writing my post and question when you posted so I didn't see your explanation of where the fold down bed may be. That could be it.

We actually have a Royal Suite booked, but the more I look at the layout, I think the 1BR is actually more conveniently laid out (might even be bigger too!!) Don't know, have plenty of time to look at this

It also says that there is another fold-out bed in the "media library"...which on the Magic & Wonder is the room next to the master bedroom, but this isn't the case on the Dream. So I'm looking at the layout and wondering where the "media library" is, and where in the living area the other fold down beds are. :confused3
I REALLY liked the Walt & Roy on the Magic & Wonder...with a separate bedroom, and the dining in a separate area. We've cruised in the Walt with a group of women traveling together. This WOULD NOT work on the Dream.

When you look at the Penthouse and Owner's suites on other cruise lines, (NOT the huge Villas on Norwegian)....the Royal suites on the new Dream look almost exactly like the other cruise line's larger suites. And I don't like that. They really aren't family-friendly. Which is what I always thought Disney was supposed to be.
:confused::confused::confused:

I love the Roy (the Walt ain't bad either) but it looks like DCL took space from these suites to make more family rooms WITHOUT lowering the prices. We are paying more for a cat R than the Roy, for two less days.

I hope the actual rooms are better layed out than the artist renderings. (Where exactly IS that fold down double bed? The bedroom isn't big enough)

it isn't nxt to the lav is it? man you couldn't get out of the bed to go to the bathroom at night. also looks like a privacy curtain between bed and veranda. maybe that oval thing is the fold down bed!! i am trying to remain positive but it is getting harder!

I'll be glad when we finally get some real pictures to look at, but that won't happen for quite a while. I think now, for sure, if we had a large group, we'd get connecting rooms. At least that way, everyone gets a real bed, and more bathroom space.

That stupid looking structure that cuts into the room next to the bed is the new circular shower they are so highly touting! Not only does it look ridiculous, but it totally cuts into the space! Why did they feel the need to round off the bathroom instead of square it off! And with the standard verandah rooms being smaller, that's just going to make the space tighter. And I hate the fact that they took away that cute little "dresser" top and drawers that were always next to the closet!

In the drawings of the new Royal Suites, the shower is square, and next to the bed...to the INSIDE of the stateroom.
The round part that the OP and some of us are talking about is right up next to the verandah, in the master bedroom. It can only be a loveseat and also the area where the extra pull-out bed is.

check out the drawings on the DCL site for the Royal Suite Slide Show! Yup the round thing is a setee of sorts, but explain the hot tub indoors if you can! Also apparently the tub opens directly into the br with NO door - just a privacy curtain!

You're right! I hadn't noticed that before!
I also see where there's a privacy curtain that divides the master bed from that settee or loveseat...so that has to be where the other pull-out bed is....but what a tight squeeze!
I think it's nice that the rooms are forward, with good views, and a hot tub on the verandah, but I think DCL's designers messed up in so many other ways.
:sad2::sad2:

I just don't get it. On the DCL site there is the "mock up" and then the description. Where is this second bathroom that is mentioned. If the shower/bath is truly in the bedroom, they've messed up in a big way. Sicne they read these boards maybe there is still time to fix some of this.

I found the pix on the DCLcruiseline site. Went to staterooms and suites and then instead on ckng floor plans, I ckd 'slide show' and that is where this stuff showed up. I can't believe Disney would have the bathtub IN the BR! That is just NUTS!!! All in all it is a very tight squeeze. I actually like the 1BR more and more. It seems like so much wasted space in the Royal. I sure hope I am wrong as we have one booked!!!!

I'd be thinking about moving to a one bedroom suite, and if you need the extra room, go with a connecting. But that's probably more money than the one Royal suite. Darn it.

The second bathroom is in the hallway near the entry door. One wall of that bathroom backs up to the master closet.
The Walt & Roy on the Magic & Wonder have two and a half bathrooms....so that's another loss with the new rooms.
