Now that the royal rooms have been available for a while, can anyone tell me more about them?

I'm going in November in a "standard view" royal room. Does this mean it'll be a farther walk? Is there a room I could request that's closer to the main building? I know requests aren't guaranteed. Just wondered if anyone knew which rooms were located where and if anyone could suggest a good location for me :)

TIA

Katie

A standard RR room will be on the further side of the building and most likely have a parking lot view.

Thanks. That's what I figured. Maybe once I've paid off the trip I can try to afford a different room view. Maybe that'll get us a bit closer. :)

IMO - it's not worth paying more for a better room to be closer to the main building because the walk is minimal. I would request Oak Manor and then maybe request near the elevator - that will put you near the center of the building, and from there, it's just a quick walk down a corridor of rooms to the main pathway that will lead you over to the main buildings. We were on the opposite parking lot side in Acadian House and it was no issue going to the food court every morning for us.

Good to know, thank you! :thumbsup2

Pop over to the Port Orleans Riverside thread .... there are quite a few who have already stayed in the Royal Rooms and many more of us (like myself) going this year.

See the first post for Andre's website portorleans.org filled with great maps, thousands of photos and basically anything you need to know about the resort.

:)

While the looks of Royal Rooms really don't thrill me, we did stay in Oak Manor standard view and loved the building and location.

Sure we had a parking lot view, but these moderates are all motel-like and we keep our curtains closed most of the time anyway (lots of people walking by).

We were on the far side of the H and it was a very quick walk to the bus stop. I also found the walk to the main building just a nice quick walk. There were two bridges you could cross and the shorter walk was about 5 to 7 minutes. The slightly longer walk through old man island was beautiful and it was still less than 10 minutes.

If I could have changed anything, I might have gotten a room on the pool side because the kids liked the quiet pool better than the themed pool.

I think you'll like where you are!

Good point that I forgot to mention. If you are on the other side of the building from the main building, facing the parking lot, you will be near a bus stop at least. All the bus stops except the main one are beyond the parking lot, so those rooms have the quickest walk.
