Headed to the World in Feb 2013. I would love to stay in a POR Royal Room. I have only husband and son (age 6). Hubby says the Royal is too girlie for them, even though my son IS Prince Eric. Anyway...anybody out there stayed in a Royal and have a different opinion I can throw at him? Otherwise I guess I'll save the $140 extra for this trip and take us back to CBR for the pirate pool. BTW- my first thread!!!

Just saw this post when researching the same question.:thumbsup2
My 15 year old dd really wants to stay in one of these rooms. My 8 yr old son thinks the princesses are yucky and blushes every time one of them looks at him:rotfl2:
I think the decor is pretty neutral colour wise and there seems to be touches from Aladdin and gender neutral decorations. There are of course princess pictures on the wall but I am thinking it's not too over the top girly.
I think both my kids will like it and have fun. The headboards are really neat!

I am considering booking this room for them and surprising them. Even if my son thinks it's girly he'll make one "Princesses are icky" comment and then forget about it. I don't think it will be an issue.

"Royal" does not necessarily mean "girlie" After all tho, YOU are a princess and your DS IS Prince Eric!;)

From the pics, I think they are charming, neutral royal decor and colors and I think you should definitely enjoy the ambiance.

Have you seen the pirate themed rooms at CBR? My boys thought it was awesome when we stayed there! :thumbsup2

We stayed in a Royal Room for one night on our last trip. I just asked DH and he said he did not think it was girlie. And my 8 year old son never complained. That said, we both liked our room in Alligator Bayou better. The furnishings in the Royal Room are bigger and the room felt much smaller to us.

Thanks for the replies so far! Interesting tip about the furniture being bigger. hadn't thought about that. I would love to try the "Bayou", but we never get put there as a family of three. :(

Boys said go ahead and book after looking at the pictures. DH said the blue colors and dark wood were not what he expected. Apparently he was expecting something closer to pink canopy beds. :cutie:

Hoping these aren't miles from the main pool and food like the pirate rooms are at CBR. Any advice about a building to request is appreciated.

I just got back from a stay at the royal rooms> There are no girly colors any where in the room. The colors are dark blue and browns. Royal colors. I stayed in the oak mannor buliding 9422. A bit of a walk but i liked the location.

The Royal Room mansions are a decent walk but not terribly far from the main building and main pool. There is a quiet pool and laundry between the 2 buildings. The farthest rooms would be on the far side of Parterre Place facing POFQ. We stayed in the center of Parterre in August and it was a fantastic location. Check out the POR thread for more info.

I've only stayed at POR twice, and I got put in Alligator Bayou both times as a solo. And to be honest, I would think you would have a better than average chance of getting in AB because although there are the same number of rooms in each section, half of the Magnolia Bend rooms are Royal Rooms, which is a separate booking category, so therefore there are actually twice as many AB rooms as there are non-Royal Room Magnolia Bend rooms.

We booked tonight too:)
Decided to pass on the Royal Room and book a preferred. We like Alligator Bayou and it'll be nice to give teen dd the other bed and 8yr old ds the Murphy bed. I also prefer the location of the preferred buildings.
That being said I think the difference between preferred in AB, and a Standard View Royal Room was only about 35 dollars. In the end, it was just easier for the kids to have their own beds.:)
