Royal plaza in downtown disney

Staying at Royal Plaza three nights in June before transferring to Contemporary.

Some questions:

Anybody ever stay at Royal Plaza? It gets mixed reviews on Trip Advisor
Suggestions for best way to transfer from DD hotel to onsite hotel?
How's the transportation to the parks?

My family and I stayed at the Royal Plaza in Feb for 1 night in a Deluxe Tower Room. It's a nice hotel with a friendly staff. The room was very nice and clean, large bathroom with whirlpool tub, comfortable beds. The lobby area, hallways and elevators looked a little worn but it was fine and I would stay there again.
